Vibration between 700-900 RPM...

Hey all,

I just noticed I have a slight but noticeable vibration occurring between 700-900 RPM. I at first thought it was clutch chatter - but now I am not 100% sure. I know it's not the motor mount as that one is fine and was torqued to spec. I have cleaned the throttle body though so I am wondering if that may be the cause.

It's not very significant but still something I'd want to be sure about.

Knock sensor causing vibrations like this only in that RPM? Acceleration seems normal... I'll try and pull a ghost code - but I haven't seen any so far.

I wonder if its the vibration that Black Maxima, some others, and myself were having. We were betting on it being the Y-pipe hitting something, either that or some weird tranny problem.

It was inconclusive.. I still have no problems and it's been happening for a long time, which for me almost confirms my exhaust suspicions.

I can't really see how it can be an exhaust issue since I didn't touch it during the clutch swap (started after clutch swap).

Highly doubt this is a bad install since we triple checked everything - only the engine vibrates and only at those low RPM... I checked codes - got 0505 which I assume is "ALL IS OKAY, YO!"

I think it may be due to the clutch still in the break in period - doesn't bother me really.

I just started having exectly the same vibration at low rpm. My tranny failed a couple of weeks ago and these are the things I have had replaced in the car:
- tranny
- clutch kit
- drivers side axle
Also the fly wheel was resurfaced. And now I have this annoying vibration. Could the mechanic screwed something up when installing the clutch kit/fly wheel ? Something off center?
I don't have any trouble codes.

I have the same problem since my alternator and belts were replaced by mechanic. Everything was smooth before but after the repairs I noticed vibration in N and D especially in 700-900rpm range and I could feel a slight vibration in steering wheel when driving up to 2000rpm.
First I thought they installed bad alternator so I bought one on ebay and they installed it for me but I didn't feel any difference. 5 mechanics were looking at my car alltogether and those a$$holes told me they don't know what's wrong with the car.

So I found that adjusting the alternator belt tension helped to significantly reduce the vibration.
After I loosen the belt tension, there is almost no vibration. I'm gonna loosen it a little bit more next weekend.

Can anyone tell me if this vibration can be caused by improper installation of a clutch kit/flywheel ? If so I can try taking it back to the mechanic and demanding a reinstall.

yes, it is possible. But if they used a clutch alignment tool then it techincally shouldn't happen. I don't think the shop will do anything about it for something so little and insignificant, especially since it'll take them a while to take apart your tranny again.
