heated mirror wiring

didnt find it in the faq's or mods list, so..........................

i want to add heated mirrors, have them, but only the glass. 2 wires go to the glass, so i assume possitive and ground. from what i understand it works off the rear defog switch, so should i tap into that and use a relay to power the mirror,
or, and i havent looked yet, is it prewired to accept a heated mirror if i had the whole mirror? this way i could just plug it in.

This sounds alot like how I wired up my auto dimmer mirror.

Yes, I would put the power wire to splice into the defroster and a ground. You shouldn't need a relay....it just needs a signal to activate the heating mechanism on the back of the mirror.

Where you get the heated glass?

Any pics?

ebay sells the whole thing for like 30 bucks a piece, i got them from a junk yard, cheaper to get the glass, although some places dont just sell you the glass, plus then i would have to swap out the painted part.

no pics. whe i get around to installing them i'll do a write up so it could be put into the faq's

you are correct, the doors are set for heated mirrors. the defrost button may be different though. but i doubt it.

i have 3 wires on each side of the plug, no open spots or 4 wires on one side and 3 on the other, so from what i can see its not prewired.
