Help car starts but dies !

K guys, i just bought a 95 maixma. (yes i still have the 2k2)

Ill post pics and info later, wanna get it running good first.

I need help, the car starts and will run for a few minutes, runs smooth too then starts to sputer and idle funny and then it dies (after about 5 minutes or so) and wont start back up untill it sits for about 30 minutes.

So far i checked the fuel filter and blew threw it, and its seemed good

Im thinking fuel pump?!??!?

What else can it be before I go out and spent the money on one....

Fuel injectors, fuel pressure regulator, MAF sensor, check that stuff too.

I missplaced a fuel pump fuse last weekend, and it did just that. Start, idle real low and rough, then stops at a point. Gas pedal does nothing.

Do you have any CEL codes to go with these symptoms?

From what you posted, sounds like ECTS.

How can i test

I also plan on hooking up a fuel pressure guage this weekend to test it, were would be the easiest hookup spot? at the fuel filter???

ECTS = Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor.

Does your gas pedal do anything to keep the engine going?

The ECTS will set off a CEL though. I'm now leaning toward the FP.

Put in a ects, no help.

I noticed the car stalls quicker now(after about 60 seconds), but it starts up each time and dies right after it reaches normal idl e(5 seconds or less).

I think its fuel related.

I wanna test the fuel pressure this weekend.

What should the psi be at ,and how can I test to see if its a bad fuel pump or if its just the regulater.

I noticed something major today

The car doesn't have a cell , but it wont let me scan using the odb tester , and it wont do self diagnostics when i turn the ecu screw!?!?!

Could this be a ECU problem??

HELP, car still starts but dies right away (maybe runs for 10 seconds) !!!

Tried another MAF, nothing changed....
Also tried a ecu from a 97 auto , nothing changed, car still stalls after each start up.

Changed the ECTS, no differance.

I also ordered a fuel pump today so ill see how that works out .

Any one have any other options?????

Also i just remeber my tester is ODB 2, but the car is a 95 , but i think the guy i got the car from said the ecu is from a 97 ??

Should I try using a odb 1?

HELP

I think you just need to clean your IACV and your TB. I think youll be set after that. Your IACV is probably getting stuck on start up, then fine once it warms up

Start with the cheapest fix, and work your way up to the more difficult/expensive.

Try mattys first, then move onto the MAF GND, then fuel pump.

I tried using my friends MAF from his 96 and the car did the same exact thing.

I wish i could make it to a intersection, i cant make it outa my driveway.
