O2 sensor code pulled and rough idle issue, smog coming up.

We'll its that time again, i have to smog my max next month.

I pulled only one code (Maxima Rear Heated O2 Sensor)
Exactly which one is that, and what is the part number for OEM Nissan, Aftermarket OEM(I've heard Walker or Bosch are good?) and where online has a good deal going?

Also my other issue, is i have a rough idle(or it feels like it) when sitting at a stop light its rather annoying, so sometime i put it in neutral. but it feels almost like someone is bumping the car from behind in a sense. (sounds like maybe a fuel injector?)

Thanks for any help,
Dave

Which code you have 0510 ?
Get the O2 sensor on ebay. I bought it from this seller and it works perfect.

Here is the list of all maxima sensors from this seller:
http://search.stores.ebay.com/GLOBAL...271212QQsofpZ0

If your code is 0510, you need a 4 wire oxygen sensor. But I heard some people with 95 maxima have a 3 wire rear sensor. The sensor is located behind the cat converter (under the front seats). Unplug the rubber cap that hides the sensor harness and look how many wires you see.

Regarding rough idle:

Clean your throttle body and IACV , replace pcv valve, make sure you have NGK spark plugs (replace if needed). If after all this you will not feel significant imrovement in idle try to loosen the alternator belt tension.

Ok, well i have been totally swamped but i finally got around to pulling the code again, the code i pulled both times was a 0707 (Rear Heated O2 sensor). what i was originally wondering is what part numbers would that be (OEM and Aftermarket), and where is that one located, is it on the cat?

I need to get this fixed, gotta get it smogged by the end of this month!
Also after i fix the issue if i reset the light will i be able to take it right in and get it smogged? As i don't think they hookup to my OBD 1 connector.

Thanks,
Dave

As far as rough idle goes, i have a new PCV filter, clean TB and new Fuel filter/coil packs, and NGK plugs. What does the alternator belt have to do with it? I am running a UDP, but never had any rough idle the first year i had it on.

ngk.com

or the bosch website.

buynissanparts.com

looks like you already found the part number. If you want different brands, try the sites above.

whatever you do DO NOT buy a universal O2 sensor. i just did one last week, and it SUCKED. you have to splice the old one with the new one and use this wierd plastic connector thats a b*tch if youve never done it before. took longer than it should of cause of that thing.

Yeah you can save a few bucks but i dont like splicing things either its not that hard for me, but id rather just pay a little more and get on with a direct plug.
Gona get mine ordered this weekend.

I ordered all 4 of them from www.ngk.com and has been 30K miles on the new sensors, no codes either O2/Cat related.

I also suggest replacing all of them at once and living happy for another 80K miles. I got all 4 for $330 and the last time I checked the website there were no changes in prices. These are OEM replacements, no splicing etc... Just plug the new ones in and good to go!!!

BTW, I passed my first smogs in flying colors.
