ill explain...
First....... dont get the kits they are crap.. all of them.. you are gonna be blinding people when u drive the housing is not meant for HID..

Second... you loose ur highbeams....

Third go visit www.hidplanet.com and read up on some stuff there they have a boat load of information....

if your thinking that its easier or cheaper....its not.

retrofitting actual projectors is the easiest and cheapest to have a good HID set up.

if your thinking that putting in a 9004 HID kit is good...its not.

beam pattern is not existant....cutoff is non existant...and basically...you will just have light everywhere...not good.

do that retrofit...itll cost u about $300-500 depending on which projectors u want to go with. and putting them into the headlight is not that hard. it just takes some common sense.

your right, it most likely would, how much do you think that would run me altogether, headlights and all. also how involved would it be to setup a dual projector setup. i wouldnt want to spend the money on those already nice looking brand new head lights just to ruin them.

the r34 headlights are about 240 shipped on ebay. you can get e46 projectors ballasts and shroud for about 350 shipped. you can get halogen projectors for about 100 shipped....plus misc stuff like bolts, silicone sealant, paint maybe 50.

so itll be about ~750

and for the r34 headlights...i expect the dual retro to be a bit easier than stock lights....there are individual compartments for the projectors.

what you could do with teh r34 are just do a single projector and use the high beams of the r34 as your highs. it would save you $100.

or you could use ur stock headlights with either a dual or a single bi xenon if you want to keep ur high beams. ull save $240.

there are a lot of ways to do the retro...
you basically will need
1.) dremel, cutoff discs (i recommend the carbon fiber reinforced ones)
2.) drill
3.) mask and goggles

good luck...let us know if u have any other questions.
