Source for Oxygen sensors

My 98 Max has 91,000 miles on it and I am going to install a stainless Y pipe. I was thinking it may be a good time to replace the oxygen sensors. But first a few questions.
1. Am I premature in the replacement, I have no symptoms of problems.
2. Where is the best place to purchase these sensors?
3. Should I replace all the sensors?
4. Should I buy OE or universal sensors?

I am sure this has been covered before but my search didn't come up with any answers,

Thanks,
neil

dont change them uness you get a code. I would say only use nissan but others have no complaints about bosch. I have the rear O2 sensor OEM if you want to buy it.

I wouldn't say to replace them but since they are older, there is a little build up of carbon which skews the reading making you run slighty richer, but not enough to change them. If you do buy new sensors, make sure they are factory or factory replacements.

If it aint broken, leave it alone.
2. Where is the best place to purchase these sensors?
Oxygensensors.com, OEM replacements, comes with the wiring and clips located in the correct places.
3. Should I replace all the sensors?
Refer to my answer to question #1
4. Should I buy OE or universal sensors?
Refer to my answer to question #2

Gotta say, thanks for the rec on ngk.com, Love_00_Max. I've been researching what brand to go with, got the dreaded codes for the sensors at 167k, and looking for a full exhaust overhaul, was leaning towards bosch. But seeing ngk oem replacements similar or cheaper than bosch, I think that was the move. The oem sensors lasted 7.5 yrs, I like my chances with ngk.

Also, with the aftermarket Y in replacing them will be easier when you DO have to swap them out.

Thanks guys,

I was uanaware NGK made O2 sensors, and they are platinum plated. I think I will wait and see what my sensors look like before I buy them. BTW I bought the double platinum NGK spark plugs at Advanced Auto parts online for $9.95 and free shipping.

2Da Mizzax- is your sensor new and how much for it shipped to 30062?

Thanks,

neil

Brand new unopened from pinnacle. I can let it go for $100 shipped.

Wow....That should be some heck of a sensor to last that long. Mine did not die, but then it started off putting P0420 and P0430 and I knew it cannot be the pre-cat and the cats, these have been around for a very long time. I went ahead and replaced the 4 O2 sensros with NGK and I haven't had them for 35K miles. Also I passed this years first smog in flying colors.

Very easy to replace them if you know the exact location of the sensors.

1) Rent the O2 sensor removal tool from Autozone.
2) Run the car to reach operating temperature that way the Y-Pipe and exhaust is relatively hot, which helps break open the tight lock the sensors have.
2) While the engine is hot, try lossening the sensors -- if they don't budge, cool car, spary PB blaster and retry.
3) Replace the O2s adding anti-seize to the threads and using the zip ties that come with the sensors to tie the wires correcty to the frame (the old tie locations give you the reference as where the new zip-tie points should be), and torquing it just enough like 30fp.

Enjoy!!! NGK sensors came with zip-ties and also exact lengths and connectors. All that I had to do was remove the old sensors and plug in the new, no need to splice wires with the universal sensors that many folks on the forum have done...

i think the 2 front ones are the only ones you'll ever need to replace. i have 91k on mine and probably will replace them soon. i bought the bosch universal ones, you can find them cheaper (i got 2 for $55), but you'll have to solder/splice them into the existing wires.
