Code 0111 The jackpot code???
Well I finally got a CEL for 0111 last night along with 0304. Now it a matter if finding out the problem. Can anyone give me some tips as to where to start? The EVAP conister purge control valve thing on top of the intake manifold is not broken. So that not a possible cause. Im thinking maybe just start with the EVAP canister. I found a test to check it. Says like pinch the fresh air vent hose. Then blow air through port a and make sure air flows freely through port b.

Yea I just dont want to be throwing money at it trying to figure it out and hope it goes away. Some of these things are expensive.
Also I have been experiencing hard starts I dont know if that caused by any of this or not?

Well I know what the codes are. I am not replacing the KS until the EVAP system fixed as the KS more then likely thrown by the 0111 code. I was just stating the other codes I got along with the 0111 code.

Well I decided I would try to figure out the code today so I went at it and took the EVAP canister off and tested it and it tested fine. I then put it back on and thought where could there be possible leaks. I then came up with the gas cap. I took it off looked the the gasket and sprayed some armour all on it to loosen it up a bit and then I heated it up added a bit of vasiline and then put it back on and what do you know the CEL went off. So tomorrow I will be buying a gas cap gasket. I figured it just dried out and shriveled up due to the cold weather we have been having.

Well guys the code came back. I am gonna go replace the gas cap as soon as nissan gets it in. Also I have been getting a strong gas smell inside the cabin leading me to believe that some valve is stuck open and not allowing the gas fumes to stay in the canister. I am thinking I got a bad evap canister vent control valve. What do you guys think?
Any help is appreciated. Nissan told me I could bring it in and they would try to figure out the problem for $40 but I really want to figure it out myself. I hate taking my car to anyone for anything besides an alignment.

I don't think its your gas cap, but it is your cheapest route, I had those same symptoms; gas smell (in an attached garage) of all places, the KS code and the purge control valve. Plus my mileage sucked. I took it to my mechanic and at 121,557 miles he replaced the vacuum cut valve ($121) and purge solenoid ($96). Not even a month later at 122,105 miles the SES light came on again. This time I had to replace the evaporator vent control valve and O ring ($123). I inspected the old parts and they were rusted out pretty bad. I finally had my KS changed at 140,943 miles because I couldn't get my big a%% hand in there even with all the additional tools I bought.

Well after driving with the CEL for an additional 200-300 miles I finally got a 2nd code for evap canister vent control valve. I just got my gas cap in yesterday and luckily I checked the codes today before I opened the gas cap and now I will save an extra $20. I was just telling my dad yesterday before I checked the codes today I was 99% sure it was the vent control valve due to the strong gas smell inside the cabin.

mmhmmm... go to alldatapro.com and put 4992700 for the sign in name and pw and look at the code list. Just click on the Diagnostic Trouble Code section off to the side and that will help you a lot.
