Brake Caliper Question
Hey guys,
I was changing my brake pads on the driver's side on my 98 maxima. The pin that is connected to the spindle (I think thats what its called) is rusted in and cannot be taken out. I need to buy a new spindle and I was wondering where I could find for cheap. Is this piece the spindle or something else? Thanks

are you sure you need to buy a new one? Mine was stuck a while back. Took out the good one, went to the auto store got a replacement. Took out the caliper itself so I could get to the rusted pin and ripped that sucker out. Make sure you can't do that stuff before you spend money on a new one. If you do, you can get one in the classifieds. Won't be new but it should be cheap.

what does the brake caliper have to do with the spindle? are you talking about the guide pin (where the bolt that holds the caliper in place) is seated? that guide pin sits in the bracket, not the spindle. If it is the guide pin you are talking about and it is rusted in, get a new bracket and set of pins. Even if you break the one you have free, the reduces space in there due to rust buildup will increase the chances of it seizing up again. the "spindle" is the combination of the streering knuckle (big heavy thing the strut and tie rod bolts to) and the hub assembly the part the axle sits in that spins with your 5 wheel studs).
