Has anyone ever wore out a 5speed shifter lever?
Just wondering, has anyone ever had to replace their stock 5speed shifter before due to wear? I bought my shifter used for my conversion a few years ago and the plastic ball bushing thats on the bottom had some wear marks like on the sides were worn slightly flat all around the ball.
The reason is that I still have slight notchyness when going into 2-3 and 4-5(it shifts smooth at higher rpms above 3k. I think it may be due to excess movement from the ball and the bushing around the ball.
I was thinking maybe getting a new shift lever may solve that problem.
I already have the Larrio shift bushing and have redline mt90 in there.

Uh oh, sounds like your tranny's about to die. It shouldn't be notchy.
But to answer your question, yeah, I've had a "worn" shifter as you described. It was on my 1st gen Altima with 150k. Try an aftermarket shifter, like the B&M or Stillen.

Its not that bad but instead of going into gear slick I can feel a slight bump as it reaches the end of the travel. Didnt get any worse over the years. I just think there is excessive play causing the shifter travel to go farther than it should, pushing against the syncros and thats what I might be feeling. It used to be like that for the 1-2 shift but the Larrio shift bushing solved the 1-2 so im thinking that a new shifter and the bushings around the ball should tighten things up.
If I shift all the gears above 3k then its smooth if that means anything.
