couple of weird probs

i have a couple of issues, and think that there may be a simple explanation.

first of all, i have had the car since about july. shortly after getting it the CEL came on. i ran the codes and get knock sensor, and rear heated o2. also from time to time the car will cut off after hitting the clutch, going down the road.

first off i have cleared the codes and they stayed clear for 2 weeks while my wife drove it... once i drove it for one day the light came on, i drive it hard and she does not.

from reading it looks like low octane/quality fuel can cause knock probs, so i was wondering if it is possible that my problem is "spirited" driving with low octane gas, and would it possibly fix itself if i filled it with high octane. i just don't know enough about the sensors and how they operate, nor do i want to replace $300 worth of sensors for no reason.

thanks for any info.

If you have a KS code, go ahead and replace it. It should increase power as well as mileage. They are $64 shipped on ebay. Takes under 30 minutes to install. I just did mine yesterday.

02 sensor code usually is pretty straight forward. Change the 02 sensor. That may be causing the knock sensor code so change the 02 sensor first, then clear the codes and drive around for a couple of days and check again.

no... just put the new 02 sensor into the new Y pipe when you change it. In fact, if you are gonna put in a new Y-pipe you might as well change your 02 sensor(s) now. It is best if you just go ahead and change both of them since you have to take them both out, and if they have any significant mileage on them (around 75K miles or more) then it could help alot

rear o2 sensor only shows u ur emissions when tested.

KS code may go away if u check ur air filter (and change it if nesessary) and if u fill up with good gas once and some fuel injector cleaner, thats what did it for mine
