Mystery Coolant Leak

Hey guys i have a mystery coolant leak that only seems to happen when the car is warm in the garage, not when it has been parked out overnight. When it leaks, i notice just a few drops of antifreeze on the driveway. I have had the system pressurized and nothing was found. Any ideas?

From your signature, I am assuming that you have a 95...if it has anywhere near 100K, you might look for coolant leaking at water pump(water pump replacement = big $$ labor for inexpensive part). Regardless of miles, most 95/96 models will start giving radiator leaks (small, but still leaks) due to plastic design...age+plastic=problems. Pressure test can confirm radiator/radiator cap issues. Replace radiator with group deal from Jeff @ importrp ($140.00 SHIPPED with improved features)!! GREAT deal!!
Hope it proves to be something minor, but if you do replace radiator A) it's not $300 item and B) it's fairly easy DIY job. Take care, Doug

thats odd i have the same problem but mine only occurs when its cold and its been parked overnight. Doesnt really bother me, i think its one of my main coolant lines (lower) that is leaking. Not 100% sure, i pressure tested it and i found no leaks, i guess pressure testing it while the car is still cold would be best.

i had the same problem. When I would get home or park the car after driving it, it would tend to leave a few drops. I checked to see where it was coming from and I noticeed the edge of the oil pan kind of wet from the coolant. At the time, my car had 130,000 miles on it. I'm 99% sure it was from the water pump-- all of my hoses seemed good. I dont know for sure because I ended up swapping the whole engine out, (which i'm still doing)... but yeah.. just replace the water pump, and like packer Z said... its gonna cost you some bucks for labor.

I've had that problem, and if you let go too long you will begin to spend some money on anti freeze, like they said its your water pump. My problem got really bad where I started carrying 2 jugs with me just in case 1 of anti-f and 1 water.

Same problem here but it's only like 1 drop a night. I have painted floors in the garage so it wipes up easily but the next day will be one more drop. It's coming from closer up front near the radiator. I park on carpet squares and it's just front of the passenger/front tire and a little towards center. I think mine could be the radiator.

had this leak for a year, but it was so tiny that i didnt even do anything about it. just got my belts changed and noticed that the water pump is slowly leaking and it is getting worse everyday. i didnt think it was that wp either, but check that area.

I have a 1996 Maxima and have the same problem. It seems to only happen in the winter time, here in Florida that usually means temps in the 40's and 50's. It has been happening for at least 3 years it seems, getting a little worse now, but still not near bad enough to leave me stranded anywhere. Maybe a pint of coolant every couple weeks at the most. Based on the prior posts in this thread I am going to research costs of a water pump. I'll be doing research to make a decision to use an aftermarket water pump vs. nissan pump. I figure I will put an ad on Craigs List just to get an idea on how much labor might cost, call a few repair shops, Etc. Does the motor need to come out to get this done? I pray not. Does the A/C compressor need to come out? PLEASE tell me no. I love my maxima and dedicate my life to making it financially feasable to keep this car for the rest of my life.
