Need A new 5speed gear box!

for my a32 cefiro with the baby vq20de i foned up a few places they say $nz650 +install with 90,000kms is this a bad price? its going 2 cost over $nz1,000 to fix the trans i have now what has busted a bearing (lost 1st and lose 2nd time 2 time) it happend last nyt i dont plan 2 drive it but i need 2 get 2 work some how!

what the vq30 trans bolt up to it and work sweet and what would the pro's and con's be?

i have a newish clutch so it is not that and can some tell me what clutch the vq30de uses?

p.s i can start threads finely!

I would have to say that the 3.0 5sp should be the same. As far as the clutch it is balanced to the motor as is the flywheel. I would not be suprised a bit if it were nopt the same part # all together. Any idea if yours is an lsd or open dif?

mine an open dif! i no my clutch is a '9 bolt' they mach wouldnt tell me the part number!!

If you have tranny bearing problems, it's not a clutch problem.

I strongly recommend that if you get a new tranny, that you take the tranny to a good transmission shop. Have them take off the housing and look for signs of bearing wear. Many maxima/A32 trannys have bearing wear problems, and you don't want to put a bad one in your car.

I have been talking to my dad and he said to take it into the shop then decide after we now whats needs to be fix in it and how much! but at least that why u spend more but no u have a good reconed trans!
also therer where no engine light or nothing and still isnt is this normal?


BTW the shop i took it to said that these are one of the strongist fwd tranz!!

Well I see 3rd gear strip in these often enough, and if you get it reconditioned, then make sure the shop remeasures ALL of the bearing shim sizes. Don't let them throw in the existing shims, even if you have to wait longer to get the right shim sizes.

yes the shop i plan 2 take it so in very good at what they do no back yard ball ****! it will come with a warrenty! i am going 2 take it in tomorrw and hope it doesnt take to long 2 get fixed! i have to get to work some how! i havnt figured that bit out yet!

it going 2 cost me $nz1500 for a new gearbox and reconned! and intalled!!
i blew the other one beyond repair! the manin pin snaped of and cracked the bell housing!!
and made a big mess!
