Bro, I got replacements at my local auto parts store for $40 a pair. Check out the Carquest or whatever is local to you. If they arent in stock, they can be ordered very quickly.

Autozone and Advanced auto carry them. $20 but I think it's each. I was going to purchase some but other threads I read say they go out in a year whether they are factory or cheapo.

Don't buy hood struts from e- . Get Sachs Struts with a lifetime warranty, or make a hood prop.

Don't buy them from anywhere. You're wasting your own money. They give out within months and never last. Just get a bar. I don't have time now, but possibly over the summer I'm working on installing bars into my bay to replace the hood struts.

I agree that once your hood struts lose it they are not worth replacing. Why didn't they just put a bar in the first place? I guess some reviewers find bars cheap, but I've never had a problem with cars that came with bars.

Cdg2125, where do we get a prop rod that will fit our cars? And where do they install, seems all the 4th gens had struts, is there any place to install a bar?

they don't make rods for our cars. Thats why I need to work on it. And hood struts will not last you a year. Maybe if you never have the hood up, but otherwise they won't last long at all. Mine gave out in 4 months and I barely had the hood up that much.

What I did when mine gave out was to just post up around the org here and someone who was installing a CF hood traded with me. My blown struts were weak enough to hold up his hood, and his regular's were too strong for his but right for mine

Look for anyplace that has lifetime warranty guarantee, and well it explains itself. Even if it breaks as long as you keep your paperwork you can trade them back for new ones

I used a rod for awhile, but I like having my hood struts, they just look better. And I know, who needs to look good while working on their car, but hey its just preference.

Broomstick never fails

I also need new hood struts. But I use a broomstick for now. Will replace them once it gets warmer
