Front seat bolt holes threads messed up.

The bolt holes for my front passenger seat got messed up and the bolt will not go into it. What can I do about this? Anywhere I can take it to get the holes rethreaded? The seat does not wobble but if you look into the rear window the the leans to the left. I thought about putting a smaller bolt in there just big enough to not fall out but haven't tried it.

Thanks.

Pull out carpet and padding and take car to weld shop and have it fixed.
these bolts and nuts must be strong enough to hold the seat during a nasty accident.

I took my car to a welder and had both driver and passenger seat bolts reinforced at the floor. The nuts near the console are strong but the nuts in the floor by the doors are crap and these really should be reinforced to keep seats from breaking away in a bad accident.

Without taking the center console out could I just remove the passenger seat and back seats out and pull the carpet up enough for them to weld? Do they just weld new bolts in or what do they do specifically?

Just remove passenger seat only and either rethread scew holes or take to a weld shop for new screw anchors. If you need welding you'll have to pull up carpet and then you remove center console for access. If you can't rethread, don't drive yourself crazy just go to a good shop and they'll know what to do!

Most any mechanic will have a tap and die set and chase the threads for you. Or, bring a bolt to your local hardware store and purchase the correct size tap and simply chase the threads yourself.

if it is that bad, what you can do is re-thread using the next size up and just put a bigger bolt on. Sometimes if its that bad, the bolt won't be strong enough to hold whatever it was suppose to hold.
