cold start problem anyone?
cold start problem anyone?
i started my max up last night let it warm up about 1 min maybe, as soon as i put the car in drive it shut off on me! so i cranked it and it started right up as soon as i put it drive shuts off again. finally started it up again started no problem after that the car was idling funny between 700 and a little over a 1000 rpms in park only. when i started driving it went away all back to normal. any idea what this could be guys? maybe i just didnt let it warm up enough. i have no CEL or anything and i keep my max well maintained.
when its cold out its normal for the car to idle a little higher so it will warm up faster. i was reading something about cold starts when i was trying to figure out my cold start problem and i read that you should let your car warm up for at least 2 minutes.
that has happened to me before too though, and i just started the car and went, but as soon as the shifter when into D it stalled. i just started it again and i was able to drive. but now i make sure i let it warm up at least a couple minutes and it hasnt happened since. plus i have a new battery which seems to have helped the car start in the cold weather.

I have a stick. The temp here has been as low as -8F. The only thing I've noticed is the starter cranks more slowly. I don't leave any warmup period - driving warmis it up faster than idling. I keep the rpms below 3k until the engine reaches normal operating temp, but other than that I'll just start, drive, and curse the day I got the leather seat kit with no heater.
