Y-Pipe

I know there are a million threads on y-pipes for our maxs, but where the hell do i actually get a decent y-pipe for a reasonable price. I found some on ebay that are Bosal brand and are only $140, but i keep hearing about Budget y-pipes, but i dont know ow much they are or where to physically get them.

Budget = lssexhaust.com. They advertised a special for the SS Y Pipe but the thread got locked. $200 Canadian shipped if I remember right.

not to ruin any sales on here but i heard that the budget y-pipe is better than cattman's, i dont know how true that is but which ever y-pipe you go with i dont think you would be wrong, because my best friend has budget and i have an ebay JDM made y-pipe. we both have the exact same everything else and im beating him by a car to a car and a half so whichever you choose, is ok... 2 me

you heard that?......
I dont think your "beating by a car length" theory applies to this situation. I think the only variables people are really considering when upgrading their y pipe, is the sound they will be getting, and the quality/longevity of the product. The power gain comes from eliminating restrictive pre-cats in the pipe.

and to the OP, you are correct, there are a million threads about this. buy whichever fits your budget.

well in this case sound and price varies... you will pay more for a cattman y-pipe vs a budget, but yet cattman is quieter, the point i was trying to make is that it doesnt really matter what y-pipe you get, as long as its stainless, then they are all good y-pipe, durabilty is yet to be proven to me

It kinda seems like you re-worded exactly what I said. I dont know the science behind the y pipe construction either. But you kinda contradicted yourself when you suggested that budget could be better than cattman if you now are saying they are "all good y-pipe".

Louder sound will not come from the y-pipe alone.
It will depend on whatever you have behind the y-pipe. Most importantly (with respect to sound) , the muffler.

Find a cheap fart can muffler on eBay and be happy.

So its the muffler that dictates sound? Im no ricer, but i just see people at school with civics and corrolas that you can hear all the way up the street, and i kinda wish i could let people know im coming from that far also. Any idea if the flowmaster 40 series(the ones that claim to sound deep and throghty) would actually give a maxima that type of sound?

I have a warpspeed y and megan catback... Ive heard people from the max community say its loud compared to their after market y and (in this case a pace setter) catback. I dont think its all that loud, but im pleased with the sound. Go megan if you want some noise.

bah i guess i cant get pm's either
anyway, cattman is the company that made my ypipe if ur still interested shoot me an email at jupak32 (at) gmail.com

ive aslo heard that performance doesnt change much but sound does, and that cattman sounds good (part of why i got it) and its stainless steel so its less susceptible to rusting

Yea I have a flowmaster 40, I like the sound a lot, its throaty enough but not so loud that its annoying. Granted it doesn't sound like a firebird or anything, but its better than the annoying fart can. I also have a budget y pipe, test pipe, and OEM B pipe. I have gotten a lot of comments about my car sounding "bad@ss" and no ricer comments.

i can vouch for this set-up cause its what i have minus the test pipe, it sets of all alarms in parking garages.
