Windshield wipers dont move!!
Hi guys just turned on my car to warm up here in the snow, it turns out wipers were left on but frozen and not moving, after i cleared the snow off them they still wouldnt move. What is wrong, what do i do?

You need a wiper transmission. I just replaced mine a few months ago. The transmission has nylon connectors that will pop off the ball joint off if the wiper has to deal with too much resistance. If you turn on the wipers, you will probably hear the motor running but the wipers will not move.
head to a junk yard and get another wiper transmission.

first listen for the motor. If you hear it, go to the base of each wiper arm and remove the plastic circle covering the retaining nut. turn the wipers on again and see if those nuts are moving. If not, remove the 2 wiper arms and remove the long black plastic piece at the base of your windshield. (it runs the entire width of your car). you will see the wiper motor in the middle with 2 rods running from it in either direction. those rods connect to the wiper arms and have either broken or popped off. the replacement link is around $10 http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...97&catalogid=2 . not a hard job.

Can someone help me because I'm having the same exact problem. It actually happened like 10 minutes ago when i was driving home from school and the ice that was frozen on top of my car fell off and landed on the windshield. Foolishly I turned on the wipers to try and move it off, but it was a pretty large piece of ice. When i turned them on the wipers moved then stopped and wouldn't budge. I pulled over and took the big piece of ice off and tried turning my wipers on and off to get them un-stuck. Didn't work, so i drove home and decided to check out the org for some help. I took those round circles off that a previous person suggested and noticed that the nuts weren't moving. However, every so often the wipers try and move even if i have them off inside the car. So, does that mean that the motor is fine, but there is another problem? Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions people offer.

Hmm sounds like a circuit breaker with a thermal cutout.

same thing happened to me last night. gotta love the new england weather, we got snow, then it rained and made the snow thicker with water, then dropped to 15 degrees so i had 2 inches of thick ice/snow compacted on my car. it just took me banging all the ice down by where the hinge of the wipers are. finally it must have freed up whatever ice was frozen keeping it from moving and i had no problems after. i was friggin paranoid though cuz i'm over an hour away from home at college and didn't wanna have to deal with broken wiper motors

Sorry for reopening the old thread.
Last week I had the same problem with my wipers that stopped to move but the motor was still working.
After some investigation I found that the linkage 28860 is disconnected from the pivot 28870 (see the diagram below).
The plastic part of the ball joint seems to be worn or broken.
Could anyone please confirm that I need to remove and replace the rod 28860 completely?
If yes, how can I disconnect it safely at the motor side?
There seems to be another ball joint.
Thank you in advance
