i got the code 0201 and 0605. 0605 points to a misfire in cylinder 4. i have about 58000 miles on the car. this is the second time this code has come on. i even changed out the spark plugs. then about a week later, this code came back. should i just take it to the shop or is there something that i can do to resolve it

Check all the hardware and connectors for both the coil and the injector on that cylinder as well.

You said you already changed the spark plugs. In that case you saw and touched the ignition coils. Go to http://vbxmaxima.8m.com/sparkplug.html Scroll down to step 4, With the bolts removed, pull out the coil. The photo below this line shows a hand holding an ignition coil.

The 4Gen Maxima V6 engine has two banks of three cylinders each. The front bank (left to right, as viewed from the front of the car) is cylinders 2, 4, 6.

Exchange the spark plugs in cylinders 2 and 4. Exchange the coil assemblies in cylinders 4 and 6. Reset the Engine Control Module. Drive the car normally and expect the Malfunction Indicator Lamp to turn on again. When it does, do a readout and post the Diagnostic Trouble Codes on this forum. This work will help to "zero in" on the component which is causing trouble. There's a fair chance you can fix this yourself.
