Belt Replacement Question

How much do you think it will cost me to replace the belt on the left side near the engine? I'm at work, but if anyone has had this done and it wasn't a long or expensive job, I'm probably going to leave early and take it to my mechanic to fix it. Let me know.

Well if you have some tools, look at the write up here on the org and do it yourself, it will cost you about $5-$10 or so (the cost of the belt).

Taking it to a mechanic will probably cost you $60+. $5-$10 for the belt and $50+ for the labor. So it's up to you.

By all means if you have the right tools and are mechanically inclined I would say do it yourself. But if you don't and are not you could very easily spend a lot of time and money changing out that belt. Also, you could very easily break something, and the last time I bought one (a Gates) it cost about $25 dollars.

all you need is a 12mm wrench, and a 14mm deep socket or a 1' extention.

Loosen the nut on the tensioner pulley, then loosen the tensioner itself, pull it up take off the old belt, put on the new belt, tighten back down. check haynes/fsm/chiltons for extra detailed info.
