Eaton M90 for maxima

i was researching the eaton m90 supercharger for my maxima, and it's a universal supercharger recommended for any vehicle 3.0L-5.0L i think, but every car i've seen it on was american cars:confused: ??? GTP, Bonneville, Aurora??? any body ever heard of one of these on any Import?

Try out that search function bro, it was done years ago by Craig Mack. There's been lots of discussion about his and other potential setups.

I toss this idea back and forth myself sometimes. Craig Mack only ever took 4 really bad pictures and doesn't remember a whole lot about it (I've talked to him recently) so there isn't much to learn/know about his setup. Of anyone, I probably know the most about it, though.

Grand_hustle17 02-22-2007 08:42 PM

gee thanks ima probebly have this in in the next 2 weeks

How do you figure? It's not as simple as you think. I don't understand how you can jump into this knowing nothing about it and expect it to go off without a hitch.

There actually aren't that many parts to it, it just requires a good bit of custom-made parts.

96blkonblkse 02-22-2007 08:53 PM

damn that really sucks about craig macks car. Id be choked if that happened to me. Sounds like a crazy setup, id be interested to try it, but as it stands now schooling is consuming all my time.

Oh it was, total torque beast. Too bad he never really got to have fun with it...

96blkonblkse 02-22-2007 09:02 PM

yeah that would suck sooo bad. So much time and money invested into it, and maybe enjoyed it properly running for 1-2 day tops? Its a shame to be honest with you. Especially considering he was the pioneer of this setup.

andrei3333 02-22-2007 09:24 PM

Am I missing a piece of this story, what happened to that guys car ?

96blkonblkse 02-22-2007 09:44 PM

got hit almost head on by an accord at about 40MPH, like the day he got the car back running 100%. I belive he owns a cobra now, or atleast he did back in the day.

Holy hell, that REALLY blows..

915Max 02-23-2007 02:23 PM

So its almost like this set-up:
http://www.rippmods.com/documents/wr...azzio/pic4.jpg

This one looks like it would look nicer though.
I had repo'd an Eclipse with this type of supercharger and it looked like it would work on our car, but you would need to remove and fabricate a new mounting plate so it would fit on the VQ.

No. Thats a cintrifical type style blower. The blower these guys are talking about are Roots type. Roots builds boost alot quicker then the cintrifical type...Cintrifical type blowers build boost as rpms build.

915Max 02-23-2007 03:08 PM

oh... no wonder the Eclipse seemed pretty slow on take off (it was automatic)How would the Eclipse set-up differ from your set-up matty, other than mounting? I really dont know much about superchargers and turbos, so sorry... I guess you can call me a :newbie: at this :hide:

kcryan 02-23-2007 03:18 PM

An M90 is $3000? Where are you shopping? You can buy used ones for like $200.

f550maranello2 02-23-2007 08:44 PM

Fr33way™ 02-23-2007 08:58 PM

This setup is riddled with problems.

matty 02-23-2007 09:34 PM

Charge pipe problem, Maf placement problems, Charge effieciancy problems in regards to the MAF seeing air, BOV valve problems. ALOT of unknowns

Yea well driveability problems will bug the cra* outa you, when you cant even drive your car back to whoever installed it, a half-a-dozen times. It will get to you regardless of how much money you have

-matt

Tatanko 02-24-2007 07:10 AM

All of Craig's drivability issues were fixed before the car was totalled. He just never bothered to say much about it, and only had the car running properly maybe a couple hours tops before it was totalled. That's the irony of the situation.

His problems were quite easily fixed, and were really pretty much dumb oversights on his (or his mechanic's) part. He had the throttlebody and MAF in the "stock" location, that was his main problem. Look at, say, a Grand Prix GTP (or most any other factory-equipped M90 car); they have their MAF and throttlebody attached BEFORE the blower. That way you're not blowing the charged air right into the MAF, and you don't need a BOV at all, either. Theoretically you could have the throttlebody in the stock location with a BOV as long as the BOV was recirculated (to before the MAF). As far as charge pipe problems, Matty, I'm not really sure what you're referring to.

grey99max 02-24-2007 08:14 AM

The factory M60 on my tow truck - on the VG33... The Frontier and Xterra had this option for a couple of years.

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...3/DSCN0645.jpg

The TB and MAF are ahead of the blower. Wish someone could adapt some of this to a VQ... :bustrun:

Anyone know how the LIM compares between the two engine series?
