Rear Caliper Sticking Replacement Alternatives

My rear disc calipers have been sticking for a while. It's not causing the pads to wear too fast but they are wearing really unevenly. I've not taken them apart but I have checked the E-brake cable and it has enough slack. I'm going to try and re grease them but I may just have to replace the whole caliper.

I don't know if the OEM replacement caliper is the best move here though, it could lock up in the future. Has anyone used anything else to replace theirs. I've hear brass piston calipers aren't too expensive and they come with a long warranty but I don't even know if they make any for the Maxima. Can anyone recommend a good replacement?

a good replacement is an Original or rebuilt caliper. They dont go that often. Assuming you have never changed it before, that was 8 years it lasted.

If you find cheaper ones with a good replacement policy they are easy to swap out.

I am presuming that you have OEM calipers already (stock)... really the only place these ever "hang-up"/engage-disengage unevenly is when the slides aka "pins" are not greased properly. Do yourself an easy/cheap fix and pull the pads, access the caliper slides and grease them properly...if they are pitted (doubtful!) you may have to replace (be sure to grease them!!) reinstalling into caliper. It has been my experience with Maxima calipers that simple greasing of caliper pins is the #1 cure for caliper woes. Far too many people replace calipers that don't need replacement!

You can solve and prevent alot of problems by lubing the pins and piston seals. I consider it regular yearly maintenance now.
