transmission cooler question

hey u guys i just purchased a Stage II VB mod. so i need a tranny cooler.

I am looking at 2 of them on ebay.

the hayden 1401 and 1402

here are the links.
1401:

1402:

the 1402 is bigger and looks to be for a more heavy duty application.

is there anything bad about a bigger cooler? which one should i go with...1401 or 1402?

For mild/cooler climates, I suggest getting one with a thermal bypass so the ATF doesn't flow through the cooler if the temperature is too cold. B&M makes them and I think Hayden now has a stacked plate design with bypass as well. Up to 19,000GWV is adequate.

Otherwise, get the 1402. Use synthetic ATF while your at it.

I was going to say, the 1401 is what I have and it's not big enough, IMO. It does its job ok, but not as well as I would like. A thermal bypass of some sort would also be nice.

I'll be switching to dual B&M units this summer, but I also have plans

Yessir. Who knows, probably not. Depends where my plans go. At the very least I'm upgrading to a larger B&M unit from my current Hayden one.
