changing out the corner bulb
uh its not that difficult at all....its only held in by a screw and socket....im guessing you're just having trouble yanking it out....solution: pull harder...or use some cloth and screwdriver to pry it out of the socket
1st time i changed them i jamed my hand down in there to get the bulb in..
2nd time
i used a long flat head and you can get it to where the socket is and you can twist and it will pop right out!
so much easier!! make your clearence bulbs brighter while you got them out

the corner light should be removed to make replacing the bulb easier. the first time i removed the corner light (next to headlight) it took some brute force with a flat screwdriver and a old tshirt. it feels like you might break it, but if the one screw on top is removed theres nothing holding it in but that one socket.
I put in clear corners and had heard of them getting stolen, so followed suggestion found on the org to put a nut on it from the back side
(lying on your back and reaching in from underneath - I think you have to remove the black plastic undercover to get access, but pretty easy).
I did this a while back and don't remember all the details, I think you have to reverse the little peg or something... I just did a quick search but couldn't find the reference.
Both my corner bulbs are out now. Have to check fuses first if not then its a wee liltle project. I'd given them a very slight tint. If I pull them out, I think I'll go a tiny bit darker.

Like I said - on the org.
I couldn't find anything w/ a quick search.
I'll look for info about this in the binder where I keep my Maxima project stuff. Maybe I've got the URL too.
Anyway, I'd read about them being stolen more than once, and about putting the nut on the back as a solution.
I did hesitate a bit though...
Some guy goes "cool - I want those - For free" and wips out his screwdriver. Then when he can't get them off he's messed up the bumper around them, maybe scratches it out of spite "Jerk won't let me steal his freakin clears!". Great I still have the lights but also a little body work...
Well, there's be some satisfaction messing with the aswhole

I still don't understand exactly what you're thinking. The corner lights can't have a nut on them because there is no thread on any part of them. For the bumper lights, the front lights pop out after the side corners are popped out and reveal the screw and any nut you would put on the back of it. In which case it's quite simple to take a nut off the tiny screw. It won't benefit protecting anything IMO.
Well, it was a while back.
I think I took the little pin off and remounted it bacwards or something, whic left some of it's thread exposed, then you reach in from underneat/b ehind and you can put a nut on. No, it won't absolutely prevent theft - or removal (so I can repalce the dead bulbs) - it just makes it more of a PITA, hopefully 'bad-guy' is in a hurry and won't take the time.
I'm working in NYC. It's late and dark by the time I get back.
And this weekend is booked.
I'll try to find the reference and let you know.

Corner Clears "security"
Cdg2125 - found the info I was talking about
I had copied and pasted this into a word document - but I didn't put down the source or URL and now I can't find it on a search of the org.
It shows a white 4th gen max. I don't know how to attach jpegs to posts, if you want I could email them to you.
It was fairly simple to do and it makes it so that some jerkoff can't just walk up with a screwdriver and pop off your clear-corners in a couple of minutes.
It does mean that when you need to replace the bulbs it will take you a little extra effort.
I also found another version of this by somebody else. Again, I don't know who to credit.
Note that the first one says 10mm and calls it the "mounting stud", and the second says 8mm and calls it a "pawl"...

Text from the first instructions:
Some people are securing the lights in by removing the 10mm hex. Installing the light and reaching from underneath the bumper to thread the screw back into the light. You will need to remove the plastic plug and install a large flat rubber washer between the hex screw and the light. To get behind the clear corner you have to pull back the wheel fender liner. There are two screws under the bumper behind the fog light holding the liner in place.. Take the liner and pull it back enough to get your hand and wrench in so you can tighten the 10mm hex back into the clear corner.

Here are the instructions for installing these clear front bumper lights so that they do not get stolen:
1. Remove stock front side markers (they pop out) and turn signals (they unscrew).
2. Push out the pawl holder that holds the sidemarker on each side..
3. Get an 8 mm socket and unscrew the pawl from the *new* clear sidemarkers. You're going to screw it back into the light from inside the bumper with a securing washer.
4. Install the clear turn signals & screw them in.
5. Under your bumper/fender (in front of the wheel) there is a horizontal plastic shield that extends from the plastic inner wheelwell. Remove the two screws holding this shield to the front end. Pull it down.
6. Position the sidemarker in place. Now, put a securing washer on the pawl and by sticking your hand through the hole under the bumper, screw the pawl back into the sidemarker. I suggest using using the socket in your hand without a ratchet.. just tighten it till it's snug. Now it should fit in there nice & tight and without a big gap between the turn signal & sidemarker.
