So, I brought my car into the dealership to get a new set of keys, since my one (and only one) set was lost over the weekend. They just called me and said that they can't they can't locate my VIN from the Nissan database to get the key code. Could they possibly be BSing me to get more money? Is there any other way that I can get the key code for my car? Damn this sux

 

Sounds like BS to me, but if they can't find the key that sucks. I would call another Nissan dealership and ask them to run the VIN for your key.

 

call another nissan dealership or a locksmith. they could have been telling the truth dependingg on the year of your max. i doubt they keep key codes for more than 10 years.

 

yea i think i read on here not too long ago about someone else who couldnt get their key code cause the car was no longer in the database. but do what they said, call another dealer, see what they say.

 

i bought the car from another guy on the forum last year. do u know if the original dealer is on the carfax report?

 

no. and it doesnt matter what dealer you call. just call a bunch of them. the bigger the better. buynissanparts.com, nissanparts.org. they wont make the key for you but they may be able to give your local dealer the code so the key can be cut once you prove ownership. locksmiths also have access to this information.
