Gas Tank Supports

One of my gas tank metal band supports pretty much just disintegrated due to rust while I was trying to remove its bolt to remove the support.

Now what can I do to support tha tank? I need ideas. It will need to be pretty sturdy since it will be suporting half the weight of 18 gallons of fuel. It will also need to be fairly flexible to follow the contour of the tank. I was thinking just a thin strip of metal like what was on there, but how would it attach to the car? Bolt the one end, but what about the other end? I think the origianl support is welded to the body. Any ideas?

you could get another bracket from the junk yard and bolt it back up, save you having to fabricate some type of setup.
