Stolen Maxima

I am taking an haitus from the org for a few month. My maxima was stolen on my birthday during dinner in Philadelphia Chinatown last week. The car was recovered by the police a few days later but was stripped of my new 18" rims, Ksport coilovers still in the box, HID, Kenwood dvd/tv/navigation, amp and subs.

I am currently dealing with insurance to try to convince them to put it back together instead of declaring it a total loss because i'm halfway through putting in the stillen v2 with help from Henry (abci30).

BTW, the list of my items is on my cardomain website. If anyone is trying to sell you some of these stuff, especially the KSport coilovers, since they only fits a 4th gen, please be a pal and let me know. Want to catches these SOBs that stole it.

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2156126

Thanks everyone

Hey bro,

I'm really sorry to hear that.

Since I am local, I'll keep a lookout on Craigslist and stuff to see if I see anything. Post a pic of the rims too.

Good luck with everything.

with those mods it would make a nice booty for a thief, since its all appearance mods, the K sports would of been left if it was installed. let us know how much they insurance is giving you and what brand so we know what they do and stuff. those probably will be sold to a little after market shop for cheap and they resell everything cheap as hell too. Probably wont make it on craig's

I've had pretty much all my cars vandalized in some form. Unless you know who did it, there's not much you can do. I always say "what goes around comes around". The people who did it will get what's coming to them in goodtime.

Stay up!

on my old 96 GLE before i knew anything about maximas i had the windows down and the door was locked i reached in to unlock the door and the alarm went off, i had no remote box so i didnt know what was going on, i tried to turned the car on using the key while the alarm was still going off and the car wouldnt start, is that a starter or ignition killer, i thought the only thing different with 99s was the key had that chip in it

Make sure you consider of all the abuse that your car could have went through in the hands of the burgulars. For the most part I would be worried about my tranny.

Every single guy in highschool who I "suspected" of stealing cars always bragged how much fun it was to rev in neutral and then throwing it into drive.

where in chinatown did you park it? (streets)

There are some shady alleyways...hopefully not where you parked.

Salvage it

Sorry to hear what happened dude, I know the feeling. Anyway salvage it, if they have to pay anything close to what a car is worth insurance value not blue book they will total the car out, you tell them you want to keep the car and they will deduct like 5 or 10% something like that (450 or 500) maybe even less. You get a salvage title and get to keep your car.

Thanks everyone for your concerns and tips. I appreciate all your help in a time like this.

Here's the update. My insurance, Progressive, initially told me they would fix it but quickly changed their mind and declared it "total loss". I was left with the option of get paid for blue book value or get a salvage title so they'll pay the difference between blue book value and salvage value, and I get to keep the car.

Consider that my car has only 57000 miles, and has parts in the engine for the Stillen V2, I thought the last option was my only option.

BTW, the car was stolen on 11th and Callowhill St near Chinatown and recovered near Temple University. That's some sketchy neighborhood.

FYI below is a list of items stolen.

KSports 36-way adjustable coilover

Drifz 505 NOS 18x8.5 with 235/40/18 Kuhmo ASX

Kenwood DDX-7015 2-din In-dash 6.5" Monitor DVD/CD/MP3/WMA Receiver

Kenwood KTC-V500E TV Tuner and Navigation

Chinatown, in itself, is a pretty safe place to park your car. But on the flipside, parking it right outside of the neighboring surroundings is pretty bad. I know a guy on my bball team that just had his Acura stolen right off of Callowhill.

Good to see you have the option of getting your car back. I say salvage it and get money back and just drive your car to the ground.

glad you are getting your car back. Let me know when you are ready for the rest of the kit. Keep me up to date as much as possibile we both got a lot invested into the kit i don't want anyone to get fuxord. I sent you a couple of teaser pictures of the new blower. BTW i try real hard not to park outside of chinatown if i'm there. I usually only stay for a little while and i never have my car around there at night.

no alarm will help you if some one is determined to get what u have.

I have seen a brand new escallade get stolen with expensive wheels on it, an acura MDX, a porsche caenne, a bmw 745il, a pontiac minivan, a 97 caddilac, countless civics and accords, and last but not least a 91 passat get stolen from the movie theatre i work at (as well as my own 97 dodge neon) so trust me DONT KEEP ANYTHING IN YOUR CAR

wow man i know how it feels. I hope you catch the punks that stole it. Whether or not it is morally correct, id teach those b*stards a lesson they wont forget. chances are if they took the coilovers and everything, they knew what they were doing. So take it as it is, your car was probably a target for awhile, they just waited for the right time.

Actually, my coilover was brand new and waiting to be installed. It was in the original box sitting in my trunk when it was stolen. I think they just wanted my rims but got a nice payday when they realized that there were alot more than just the rims when they were stripping it.
