Japanies or American are Maximas made in Japan or America. I went to a local dealership and they told me that they are made in Japan and shipped to America.
But I figured since Maximas are reasonable priced compare to Hondas and Toyotas they must be made domestically also.

Some Maximas are built in Japan and some in America. All JDM Cefiros and Infiniti I30's (same car, essentially) are built in Japan. The US Maxima is built in Tennessee I think, and parts comes from Japan and domestic suppliers (such as Calsonic). I also think some US Maximas are imported over, being built in Oppama and Tochigi Japan.

Look at the first character in the Vehicle Identification Number of your Maxima.
J = Made in Japan.
Look at the 11th character in the VIN. This indicates the manufacturing plant.
T = Oppama
M = Tochigi
