Finally I got myself a 5spd, Black on Black leather...

Ok... well if anyone cared to know... I lost my car in a flood.... Insurance claimed it as a total loss, and well they took it.... and didnt give me much since the car was stripped (took out everything days before the flood, to throughly clean it) anyhow.... well I've come upon a 95 SE with all the options I've wanted:

5spd
Black Leather
SunRoof
Fogs
Bose Sound Sys.

did I mention 5spd?

Anyhow what do I need to do as far as Tune ups... and maintence... we test drove it (my mechanic and I) he states... car runs smooth, no noise... no issues that he can see or feel...expect for something on the passanger tire.. (probably a bad strut)

Oil has been changed... I think a radiator flush was done after I dropped off the car... this is my first 5spd, so what else can I do besides changing the timing belt. Car has 120,000 miles... My mechanic said the clutch felt good, no oit leaks... it looks good for my point of view... Oh by the way is the leather suppose to look like a dark grey ? Or do they vary... ??????

Spark plugs and fuel filter if u want to but its around that time to get it change as well.
As for the leahter interior its not that dark but not grey. if u look at the roof interior lining should be gray and the dash should all be black its closer to the dash color but not dark. might want to recondition the leather but be careful because its not dyed its actually "painted" so it doesnt really absorbed leather care products. Ive been using the griot's leather conditioner for years and it works great and the leather smell.

Congrads man! haha Its nice to find the right car.. First off we dont have Timing belts, we have Timing chains and they are intended to last the lifetime of the engine. I just did a tune up on my 96 two weeks ago here is that thread http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=513506
Have fun with the 5Speed I wish had one! ha

Change fluids (brake) and filters (gas and air). Change sparkplugs. Clean the throttle body, change the PCV, check the radiator support for rust, change tranny gear oil to something like Redline MT-90, but make sure whatever you put in is GL-4 and not GL-5. Drive Happy.

Ensure the radiator was, in fact, flushed.

You might want to replace the power steering fluid, turkey baster method a few times is my approach.

Buy a Haynes manual for starters. Duplicate the 60,000 mile service/inspection.

Do all the visual checks - both belts, hoses, CV boots, steering/suspension, exhaust etc.

Check the condition of the brakes.

Ok... its officially mine... as of today... again this is my first 5spd, and I'm dam excited... the car needs some body work on the outside (few dents, scratchs,etc)... everything else has been changed(sparks, oil , tranny, radiator, knock sensor, etc) But I definately need to thank my Girlfriend for purchasing the car for me... as a surprise gift, I was in the works of getting the funds... and purchasing it myself, but she beat me to it. Now I'm just posting some hope's and dreams here... definately want you alls opinion on this one, and what you guys are thinking of... the car is Black(95)on Black, but its need of a paint job and thanks to a good buddy of mine I got a sweet deal on it... so while I'm at it, might as well swap the 95 front for a 97 front in, I was thinking of either going with a fresh coat of black or painting it silver or somewhat to this look... or should I just wait til I get all my exterior parts (lip, sideskirts, rear valence, cf hood, and trunk) together and do it all at once?

I like the color scheme of the Skyline R34 Z-Tune Silve/Black

If I go with either color... I'm getting everything black, like the following items..

Rims- Light weight ones at that:

Headlights, Bumper lights

Tail Lights (Get them tinted real dark)

and yes with the silver or black paint job. I plan on making the interior similar to this... I can get it down in Mexico for roughly $150 and out of real leather... and good quality at that... and yes the door panels are gonna be red too.

with a aluminum dash kit, with of course STS, and redlinegoods matching shift boot, ebrake and center console cover (black, with red stitching)

Again this is what i'm fetching for... its something attainable this summer.... for sure... but i'm debating with myself to either do this and make the car look nice and clean... or just save the $$$$ and wait to do a nice 3.5 swap but have the crappy beat up look for some time:

All nice and show with no go... ?

or

All go and no show ..?

Let the opinions come in... dont mind the flamin niether... some will like... some will hate... thanks for takin the time and check this out.. I will post pics ASAP

Hey dude. I love 5spds. Best thing I ever did in my life was sell my GXE for my I30T.

Your girl is definately a keeper man!!!!

About the car. Get the dents and stuff fixed and then save for the swap. If you go for all show, you are going to be no different than the 16 years olds with their stock civics.

Just my .02. But whatever you do, Good Luck with the car

I'd go with the show, maxima's have enough kick stock to survive for a bit until you can upgrade after the comfort.

Also, if the STS is purely for show, instead of buying one (NIB $100-250) just chop your stock shifter so it will have the same look, and spend the money on a Y-pipe so you'll have the same show with a little more go.

just my opinion good luck

I would stay with the original black color and avoid the aggravation of going to silver and re-doing the interior etc.

I have basically the same car - 95SE, 5-speed, DJ2 Black Emerald, tan leather interior, Bose, sunroof, LSD (Canadian model).

I like the front end as it is and wouldn't consider a 97 swap.

Wait till you get all the exterior parts together and then get it painted, from previous experiences it is cheaper.

First of all congrats on your car. I feel your excitement as I was just as pumped when I bought my 99 SE blk on blk after looking for 4 months.

If I were you, I wouldn't dump thousands of dollars into a 12 year old car. Use this car for a few year until you can save up enough to upgrade to something better (G35/5.5 gen). I mean if you are willing to swap engines and trannys then by all means go ahead and go all out...but I would think about it before you dump $$$$ into it.

If I really wanted to I would go all out with my car...but I am still in highschool for one and two, it just doesn't seem worth it. My car currently has 109,725 miles, and I would like to mod it (rims, drop, tint, body kit, full exhaust (headers to muffler), 00VI, turbo/supercharge, etc.) but it doesnt seem worth it to put all that money into a 8 year old car. I will probably do some small mods (y-pipe, intake, lights) but nothing major. Just my 0.02

You would probably be better off using this as a daily driver and a few SMALL mods and then getting another car later on. You have a little too much planned right now. Car is kinda old to dump so much money into it. Unless the car is absolutely mint and you plan on keeping it for a very long time, I would wait till you get the car you really want and is definitely worth the mods/money with no apprehensions.

But if you do go through with all the aforementioned mod I'd really like to see the turnout

Just have fun with the car as-is. I don't think it's wise to dump so much money into a 12 year old car. I'm sure this won't be your last car. Save up for something nicer that doesn't require you to mod every little thing.

My first car was a blk/blk 5spd Max.... I miss that car dearly. Congrats on the purchase mayne!!!

With Maximas it seems you can just buy them and go. Only things that were wrong with my car when I got it were the coils, and both of my axles are FUBAR'd right now. Other than that, it's going strong. Just do regular maintenance and get a mechanic to look it over, it should be fine.

i think your ideas about what you want it to look like are good.
i was also gonna go with dark rims even though 90% of everyone says they look bad.

Youve been a member long enough to know this isnt right.
Congrats on the ride, I see you have big dreams, just take it one step at a time. If you were having a bit of a time securing the funds to purchase the car, what about all the mods you have planned?
Im assuming this is something your going to do over a period of time? If so that should tell you what you should do first.
Personally, Id look over all the OEM parts first before throwong a bunch of aftermarket show parts such as kit, hood etc. The car is over ten years old, how is the suspension? Struts, mounts, LCA's etc.
What does the steering rack look like? For a car that old Im sure the boot is either about to crack or is already cracked.
Theres many things to inspect before dumping all your cash into a bunch of mods.

How is a STS purely for show? Most STS dont even change the height of the shifter.
When I installed mine, the throws were noticably reduced.

wow... this thread is old... but might as well update it somewhat... as far as the car goes right now...

its in none working condition...
The headgasket crapped out... and the engine f*ckd up...

I went about getting a 2nd used engine... and that crapped out on me too... (timing chain tensioner broke and the piece got jammed between the timing chain and the crank sprocket, threw the timing off)

My original intentions was to go with the mentioned upgrades bodywise.... but I have decided to stay with black (since all my friends cars are black.... it seems to look better when everyones parked outside)

I still want to get black rims... and I still want to redo the interior like I had mentioned before. I'm gonna go with a sleek sleeper look. I'm definately gonna do a 97 front bumper w/95 grill, and do the whole stillen kit. Originally I wanted to go NA... but after talking to Meximax, and my friend who's been helping me on the car.... I've decided to run NA/Nitrous on the vq30, and go NA/Boost on the vq35.

Current Mods on 3rd Engine(vq30):
(waiting on a cryo'd 5speed tranny; gears, bearings, etc... all cryo'd)
(undecided on either SAFC II or E-Manage)
Under Drive Pulley
Ported Intake/Exhaust Manifold
Port & Polished Heads
JWT Cams
Warpspeed 3inch Y-pipe
Stage 2 Clutch
Fidanaza 12lb Flywheel
B&M STS
Dynomax Super Turbo Exhaust

We hope to put everything back together within the week.... I do have on the side a VQ35 that I'm looking forward to build. Suspension, braking, and weight reduction has also been worked into the whole build: CF hood/trunks.. is on the agenda, 300zx brake calipers, coilover kit, etc... But I will post photos... times... etc as soon as I can..

None yet.... The motor is still apart... I need some valve spring compressor, and I can eventually put it all back together... (cleaned every little thing on the motor with either brake cleaner fluid or engine degreaser) also polishing alot of parts too (timing chain covers looks almost like chrome). We havent done anything suspension wise... but I will be getting some used lowering springs and some slicks for the track runs... (I'm hoping anything under a 14.3) the cryo'd tranny comes with a Phantom Grip (LSD) soo I hope that will help too...
