Warpspeed vs Budget Y-Pipe

As I am disappointed with the pull I am getting <3500 rpms I have decided that the cheapest and most efficient way to gain HP is by replacing the stock y-pipe. I want to keep the sound as close to stock as possible and I do not want any "bees in the can" sound.

My whole exhaust setup is currently stock and I think that I may consider replacing my catalytic converter with the y-pipe (was getting code P0420 for bad cat...cleared and has yet to come back, but while im down there it makes sense to replace) The b-pipe and muffler are less than a year old and I don't feel a need to replace them.

So which one? Warpspeed or Budget? Aluminum/Stainless Steel make a difference in sound? I think Budget is less expensive, but I cannot find their website. I think that $200 shipped (warpspeed) for 20 +/- hp is definitly worth it.

Also anyone's past experiences with each company (good or bad) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Budget's website is lssexhaust.com.
You're going to get mixed answers, mainly everyone telling you to get the one they have, so just make a decision, you cant go wrong with either one. Ive had nothing but good experiences with Budget. Very friendly people too.

i live about 45 min away from where they are located, need a y-pipe replaced, mine has some rusted metal cap over it remaining from the shell that was on it when it was new

some people say that warpspeed gave off the "bees in a can" noise, I myself like MaximaSpd85 have had nothing but good experiences with Budget, I would personally go with Budget if I were u, but to each their own

i have a budget y and its fine. i believe both of budgets ypipes are stainless, one polished and one is not. (but that is only for looks) the fitment of the budget ypipe was a little off and awkward, but i assume youll get that with the WS as well.

and i dont know about a y giving 20 hp or anything in that range. i would go with 8-12. add a bpipe and maybe 1-3 more.

I am in the same place right now. I am going to be upgrading my exhaust and everything. I want to go with a Y-pipe, actually already had one set to order, then went to a muffler shop here and he told me that if I replace it, I will lose 2 cats, and my ECU will throw codes, and since my city just started emissions, I will not be able to pass them. Any ideas? I have heard of a O2 simulator? And then someone else told me just to take a cat and weld the housing onto the pipe so they will see it when I am doing my emissions stuff. Has anyone ever had any problems with this or know how to get by with recommendations? Thanks!

I just passed emissions fine here in PA with just my main cat, and you shouldn't get any codes from replacing the y-pipe. I don't think you'll have any problems. And andrei, if you drive normally there's no reason your gas mileage should decrease.

There is an exhaust thred in the stickies and about 32049238439 y pipe threads.

will you lose 2 cats?....yes but they are precats for when the car is not warmed up

will you get codes?.........No

Will you get better mileage?........yes. there is less backpressure and the pipe itslef is much lighter than the factory. this is assuming you have the same driving pattern.

will you fail emissions?............only if you start the car up in the morning right infront of the emissions place. Once heated up your rear cat handles all of your emissions.

what makes one brand better than another?..............in reality, nothing. some have more common occurances of fitment problems, some dont include gaskets but in the end they are all pretty much the same.

should I get aluminized or polished?..........doesnt matter. polished looks better and may resist corrosion a little longer but at the end of the day either one will probably outlive the car you put it on.

My budget has bees in the can.. I'm sort of pondering how much it costs to get the flex section replaced.

I have budget and have the same bees in the can as Apparition. I'm going to go with Cattman when i change my Y in a few months. Brian has superior products, but yeah you do pay for it.

You wouldn't believe the problems i've had with this y-pipe. I had to cut and re-weld it because it wouldn't fit properly on my 99. Don't forget if you have a cali-spec to mention this when ordering your pipe. Cattman makes a specific pipe for the 99's which is diff from 95-98. The 99 is compatible with the 00 because of the third pre-cat we have in the front header.

I figured this topic was covered before...but did not find anything when i searched. I was hoping to get people's feedback with each y-pipe and certain things i should know about each one.

From what ive heard...Budget seems to have the "bees in a can" sound. How about Warpspeed? I would like to get a Cattman...theyre pricey tho. Anyone out there with a Warpspeed have the "bees in a can"? Thx.

Will all the Budgets pose fitment issues on 99s?

you are correct, most of the time more like $100-150 because everythings so rusted they cant reuse much but the gaskets.

100 is way too much for a ypipe install.

btw i have a budget for about 1-2 wks, and no problems.

How much does a budget cost after the US price difference and shipping. Warpspeed are $200 shipped for an aluminum, $250 for a SS.
