mods?

as far as mods go. i do have a K&N drop-in (waiste of money). i've been considering strongly making some other mods but i'm just not sure since it's an auto. i've been considering getting either another 4th-gen stick or biting the bullet and getting a 5th gen stick. i've read about a mod i can make to my auto tran - shifts harder and actually lasts longer. keep in mind i drive it to work, earn pay, pay for car.

Most all of us are daily Max drivers. Mine is auto and I have started my installs at 60K miles.

I want to ask the same question as speebs, Can I have your car. Limited Editions are nice. If I could have found a Grey limited when I was looking for mine, I would have bought it....

Stick w/ an auto. You will be glad you did in that stop-and-go early mourn. traffic. Your right about that mod..It's called A Valve Body Upgrade (VB Mod). Various company's make them.(Level 10 Transmissions, MobileTek.Net) This is the FIRST major engine mod i'm saving up for. From the description and what I hear its a MUST for us auto's...especially fast driving one's.

Re: RE: 1st Post...

I appreciate that. I've been checking out this forum for the last few days before I registered and it looked pretty good. You guys seem to know you doodoo about maxima mods and upkeep. Only thing missing is the off-topic section where you can post all your "girly" pics.

The 5sp cars are definitely fun. However, it changes the character of the car completely. I had a 96 Auto which drove and felt like a luxury car that could be driven aggresively if I so chose. Now I have a '97 5sp and it definitely feels more like a sports car and accelerates harder. However, some of the luxury car feeling has been lost with the 5sp, the intake, exhaust, y-pipe as the car runs louder and rougher now.

Enjoy your car! I don't think it's worth the money to go to a 2k+ car with the 222hp. If you take a look at the 0-60 times of the 4th gen and 5th gen, they're almost the same. The gained some weight, and got more of it's power up top, which didn't help the acceleration numbers. However, comparing my friends 2k and my 97, you can definitely see improvement. Just look at the front lower control arms and mounts and you can see how they have been re-engineered. Even the airbox has been changed.

My 99 SE Lmtd has leather. I don't know if that is standard on the Lmtd or not. I also have heated seats. Other than that and the things you said, I don't know.
