Soft brake pedal feel

Ok here it is...

just replaced front rotors, pads and calipers along with bleeding the brakes. My brakes no longer "stick" as I mentioned in a previous thread. But one issue I do have though is the pedal feels "soft" and there is a longer amount of travel when I push down the brake pedal than before the brake job. As I progressively push the pedal down (say multiple pushes slowing down from speed) the pedal builds up pressure to a somewhat normal feeling. Is there anything other than "bleeding" the brakes that I can check out that would be causing this issue?

Thanks again

AIR TEH LEIN(S)!

If you're having trouble bleeding them urself, take it to a shop!! I had the same problem! Just bleed all four calipers properly.

haha why would you have shop bleed the brakes? How much simpler could that task be?

you'll be surprised...i bled my bike calipers.....changed to speedbleeders on the bike. So air got into the lines....beld the back brakes fine..n then front, don't even remember how many times i did it and for how long. At that time, it was cheaper for me to pay the dealer to do it than me to keep trying by buying all the brake fluid.

It helps if you pump the brake pedal a few times to build up pressure, then open the bleeder (with the pedal down). That way the brake fluid shoots out really fast and carries along smaller bubbles with it. Do that a few times on each wheel. and go in the proper order.

If bleeding doesn't fix it, then it's likely the booster's going bad. Mine had that problem, and now it's totally shot.

bad booster = hard pedal.
bad master cylinder = soft pedal that travels all of the way down.

I'll make a separate post about my brake problems so I don't end up hijacking this thread...
