Momo Shift *****

Just a quick question, I know shift rod threads aren't universal but on the Momo website they don't list the thread pattern and knew that some of their shifters are compatible. Wondering if the RACAIR model is, pictured below

Now that the hot weather is going to set in I'm going to need a majority leather shifter so my **** isn't sizzling XD

I think our maxima's shifter thread pattern (95-01) is 10mm x 1.25 . That's what I mean by thread pattern. I believe it means the diameter is 10mm and there is 1.25mm's between each thread. Now granted you can take any shift **** you want, fill it, and use a 10mm x 1.25 thread tap and re-drill it, but I'd rather not go that far with a $100+ shift ****

Get the AE shift **** from courtesy parts. $60+shipping but it will definitly fit any 4th gen max. Has somewhat a similar look to what you are getting for a cheaper price and will guarantee to fit. Looks great on my car...ill post a few pics if you want.

Here is the link from Courtesy....

http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchan...Category_Code=

eBay also has them for $60 shipped...from one seller. You can save about $10 in shipping for the same product in an OEM box (I got mine via eBay). If you want to go the eBay route...I can look up the sellers name.

I'll post the pics in a few minutes...I have what they look like with the stock shifter and I'll also dig one up of one with a STS.

Ah it's cool, that's not the type of **** i'm going for. The Momo one up top is a ball type, these are much longer and handle shaped. But thanks for the link!

I would still like to see this on an STS though, or chopped shifter either way

Anyways, here are a few pics...they aren't too good and I'll take a couple more tomorrow....

Here is with the STS:

well I could be very wrong here but the way momo might do it is have a plastic sleeve that fits the gap between the shifter and shift ****, then you screw the shift **** into the plastic sleeve.

This is the way that my cheapo pep boys shift **** works so momo might use the same general system.

Also you have the pattern right 4th gens have the 10 x 1.25

Yeah I have a cheap "Type S" shift **** with a plastic sleeve system, which is no responsible for me having to clean my dash and boot since I took it off the other day and a million shavings fell out.

I wouldn't imagine B&M would go with a cheap system such as that, but rather specific car models. Although their lack of information on the site leads me to believe it. I sent them an e-mail, I'll post their reply when they choose to.

Dude, not to steal his thread, but would you mind putting your shifter in 3rd gear and taking a pic of it for me? That is the exact setup I am looking into getting and I want to know how far forward the shifter sits. You can e-mail it to me if you don't wanna put it in his thread.

Thanks, and sorry for the hi-jack Raven...

Should be Nissan, this is the OEM shifter for 00-01 5spd's I believe.

And It's all good MadMax, I'm actually curious myself to see how far the travel is and how close to the dash it comes.

BlackMax any idea what STS that is?

Momo doesnt have a thread pattern. Its a universal **** that slides on the stock stub and gets secured with allen key mounts. I have one and love it. I actually cut my stock shifter down a bit and mounted the **** right onto the shifter. I also bought a momo boot to go along with the ****. Nice and clean looking

hey I have a momo **** and it does not thread onto my stock shifter. I am really happy with the feel, shape and size, its a very comfortable **** but I do get a lot of noise from it being attached with one of those universal **** kits and the three little allen screws that hold it firmly in place. i am going to try to find a way to quiet down some of the noise it makes when i throw in my sts but i'll let you know how that goes when i get a chance to do that. hope my .02 helps

I had a raceair leather MOMO **** on my 97 I30t. I still have the ****, actually.

As matty said, there is not a thread pattern in the momo *****- just an insert that you snug-fit and then set screws.

Mine never came out or losened on me. I used a bit of loctite.

I used to have that momo **** also. Just as matty said, it is not threaded. It's secured with these three tiny allen screws that hold it to the shifter rod.

the thread size is either M10x1.25 of M10x1.5

I forget which one..I've machined about 4 of them in different shapes, and can't remember for the life of me which size it is. I'm leaning more towards a pitch size of 1.25 though.

Anyone have any pics of there Momo shift **** for Auto without having removed the shift box with an added boot? Im hate my stock shifter and Napolex.com says the discontinued the best looking auto shifter IMO for the 4th Gen that being the LEVOC LV 451.

This the one Im looking on going with, Im going to cut my shifter down and relocate the OD button somewhere else but was wondering... I would still see the ugly pole the shifter will mount on. I guess thats why you guys with auto add the boot but then I would have to eliminate me shifter box which I really dont want to do. Any input fellas?

Yeah I read his thread.. problem i that I dont really want to add a boot and rid of my shifter box like he did. It may look funny though with a thin shifter rod (which will now be exposed) and the shifter by it self. Unless I cut down the rod as low as possible. hhhhmm not sure.
