Well, I know that some of you don't really like the clear tail lights on Maxima, which I have on mine. As you know, they only make the clear for the outer lenses, not the inner ones. Anyway, I do have the red spray paint that is intended for the clear lenses. I have seen pics of half red/half clear, but for '97-'99 models. Anyone have pics for '95-'96 models? I just wanted to see how it would like first.

Wow, looks pretty nice. I wonder is it hard to do it myself? Do I just spray the inside lens only? And how many coats should I use? Any ideas?

Contact David Lau in NY @ davidl7@earthlink.net. His web page is the very first one (way at the very bottom) under owner links. I purchased the painted outer taillight assembly from him. Now, he is only painting lights that you have already purchased and supply to him (I think he is charging $60 for painting them). They make a world of difference. Good luck and let me know.

Dont bother with that... go to http://www.shmotorsport.com the website says the tailights are 120 but tell them you saw it in sport compact car ad for 105 and they will give you that price.. then go down to any hobby shop and buy yourself some candy apple red translucent model paint... tape off the top of the tailight and put about 3-4 good coats on it... dont pay 60 smackersfor something you can do for 5 dollars

Or you can email jtypehobbies@aol.com, and ask them for the red taillight paint--I've used that to paint mine, and it's worked very good. I think they run for about $20 a can, but you'll only need one can--mut be imported, since it had Japanese writing all over it.

David disassembles the taillight, paints the inside of it, and then reassembles the light. It is waterproof and worth the money, not to mention saving anyone the hassle of making a mistake. The tint is a near perfect match.

ok there NEWBIE..
you go buy lights for 105..i assume plus ship.
go ahead and crack them open. if u can do it w/o breaking them then your lucky. then take the entire light apart paint them CORRECTLY..."3-4 good coats"??? so your a pro at this? you done it b4? watch your center lights are bright and the outter ones are dim as hell since u got CHEAP.
your 5 dollars may end up costing over 200..
105 for the FIRST set of lights..
5 bucks on the hobby paint
105 for ANOTHER set of lights since u f-ed the 1st set.
60 bucks to Davidl7 for doing them CORRECTLY..
total?
$275..not including shipping

OR..
105 for lights
60 for Davidl7 to do them
total?
$165...you do the math.

OK TOUGH GUY... I bet i have been modifying cars for a hell of alot longer than you.. and i wasnt telling the guy to open the tailight i was telling him to paint over the tailight.. butit wouldnt be that hard to seal the tailight if he wanted.. all he would have to do is use some silicone gel around the edges when he re-assembled them..i have done this to numerous accords to get the orange out of the headlight and to maximas in the tailight as well.. i was just trying to save the guy 60 bucks.. everyone here is way to critical.. maximas ARE NOT GOD.. there just a four door car with a decent engine.. When I se a highly modified maxima that looks different then every other one i have seen on this forum then they will get my respect, but as for now go and buy the excact same parts that your neighbor has on his maxima so you can look excactly the same when you drive down the street together... THATS REAL COOL..

Re: Re: I don't know which email was yours I get

Ok did you actually read what you quoted from the orginal message? Where exactly in that post does your name come up? All I see is me telling Wayne to resend the email he had sent me. This is exactly the reason why I don't reply to these posts when I see them because I do not feel like defending myself or getting into an arguement. The people that do reply for me are happy with the product they got and that's why they support me. Nobody HAS to get them from me anyone can figure out how to take them apart there's enough info floating around for someone to do it. But there are people that do not feel comfortable doing this or anything else to their car and will pay someone to do it.

I don't know you so I will not make any assumptions about you. Yeah I do agree with you some people are way too critical here and no the Maxima is not God it is what it is a decent sized sedan with a great engine. Until alot of companies come out with Maxima products we are all forced to look alike. How much stuff is there Hondas? Yet don't the majority of them still look alike?

untill you actually know what David goes through.. don't put him down.. David actually decided not to make the lights anymore because of supply problems.. but you know what.. he is doing them now for $60 as a FAVOR you think david cares that he is get $60 for it? he has to give up at least 3 full days to do this thing properly..

and then you have to give him shyte over it..

haahaa..ok boss..let's figure this out..
you have been modding cars way longer than me?? ok you run a venom 400..EVERYONE..and i mean EVERYONE knows that's a POS unit and it only fools the car to run at a higher throttle/RPM. if you modded cars and have a 1/2 of brain and did your research then YOU WOULD KNOW what that POS does and it doesn't do a damn thing except kill your MPG.
ok anyway..back to the topic..
how do u know how much this other guy knows?? so u know how to completely tear down a car and rebuild them..and this guy can't change a light bulb (no offense)..your going to tell him to crack open the lights??
and you think shooting a thin coat of paint would last more than 1 week then you have to stop talking out of your ****. i don't care how much prep you do to the lights but there's no way your going to be able to make paint stick on outside part of a taillight. are you going to sand it w/ 400 grit paper and then paint it?? that will look dull as hell. are you going to paint it when it's nice and smooth?? that's going to flake off in a week. the body shops are having problems keeping paint on the sheet metal and the urthane bumpers..your going to tell me that you know a way for that paint to stick on there?? haahaa
back to your post...don't flame someone for providing a service. unless u can provide the same quality for a cheaper price then don't flame someone.
also from your writing in this thread it doesn't look like u know a damn thing about modding a car besides slapping on stickers and chaging light bulbs. are u ASE certified or something that u can back yourself up? do u have personal references?? do u work on cars all day for a living that you can say that you've been modding cars longer than me?
ok i'm getting off my soapbox...
flame on newbie!
Dan

Man, you guys are harsh, i hope i don't ever offend anyone in here. And even if the lights do look the same as everybody elses, I think they still look pretty spiffy.
