what would be the best oem Bose deck

My CD player (Bose) in my 95 max is letting go and I want to replace it with another OEM deck. What would be the best oem deck? I’m thinking either a 2000-2001 Pathfinder or QX4 Bose 6 disk player

input please

My non-bose indash 6 disc changer would be best. give you much more sound.

get a aftermarket deck, your going to get better sound, more options you can choose, easy installs. but if your going with a stock deck, then i would say the patherfinder deck, i had it on my 01 patherfinder, the only problem i had with it was the disc changer broke and cost $360 to get a new one.

The Pathfinder radio fits perfect but you can also use a 350Z radio as well you just have to trim a little off the bottom and on the edges. I personally had the Pathfinder radio and it was a plus when I sold the car, stick with the Bose.

if you end up going aftermarket, you will have to do one of these options:

Your factory Bose head unit sends an unamplified audio signal to the Bose amps. So you want to replicate this as close as possible for the best sq, in theory. There are a few options:
1) You can wire it up as a normal head unit without any Bose adapters, and have a small risk of burning up the Bose amp(s).
2) You can buy the $50 PAC or Scosche adapter, such as the one here
4th gen and up: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-7pnyu0E...51&I=142C4NN03
3rd gen: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-7pnyu0E...51&I=142C4NN02
3) You can wire the deck's preouts to the wiring harness in the dash, which will send an unamplified signal to the Bose amps. You have front and rear preouts. Each of those has a left (white) and right (red). So youd plug in RCA ends to the front and rear preouts, leaving a few inches of wire for you to play with. For the front left RCA, there will be 2 single wires inside it. Wire those to white and white/black. The front right, wire those to gray and gray/black. Do the same for the rears, Rear left will be the green and green/black, and Rear right will be purple and purple/black.
4) You can buy the Metra 70-7551 for 4th gen and up, or 70-1764 for 3rd gen (which is usually hard to find locally) which will already have all of Step #3 above done for you, so you can just plug stuff in.
http://www.metraonline.com/i/METRAHANDOUT_2005.pdf
Page 25 of 36 is a pic of both the Metra 70-7551 and 70-1764.

If you need your radio installed asap, the most cost effective way is Step #3. But if you can find the 70-7551 harness, or have time to order it online, it will probably save you some headache. Those are the easiest, most cost effective methods of this installation.

Caution: If the voltage of your preouts isnt a decent amount, you might want to avoid steps 3 or 4 and go with step 2. Low voltage preouts combined with step 3 or 4 will equate to your Bose speakers not getting loud once installed.

Good luck.

i chose to do the RCA option(#3). wasnt too hard(and im no audio expert). took maybe 1hr30-2hrs to get it right.

The scosche adapter is only $20 if you buy a headunit from crutchfield.

I just recently bought a used BOSE HU from a '99 I30. It sounds better and looks ALOT better than the 95 style one. I'm happy with that Just plug and play.

01 pathfinder is the best for oem. I don't think it's worth it to get an aftermarket hu without new speakers but thats just my opinion.

Will that just bolt and wire right in, no mods?

I believe you need to drill small holes for the screws. Nothing big at all tho.

I would go with the pathfinder bose headunit if your staying with the bose. I replaced the bose headunit with an aftermarket one and it sounded a lot better. I kept the bose speakers in for a while without any problem. I did end up getting rid of the bose and got something better though.
