Small Mods, Few Pictures.

I am the FIRST person to tell people to move their pics to the member rides forum but I thought this was 4th gen related and haven't seen these ideas.

The 1st idea I actually got from a newbie (Dan_E_Boi84) and changed it a bit.

The 2nd idea was removing the bars from the stock grill. I have always wanted to do this and I think it looks cool. I'll get better pics sometime...

Hey Justin,

Teh suede looks cool, but IMO a gray or charcoal would've
been better. It's your car, you're the designer.

I've thought about doing that to my grill, but don't like
teh condenser being exposed like that. Are you gonna use any
black mesh as inserts?

sweet hood prop!

if your looking to spruce up your front end, check what i did to mine, if you like it im sure you could paint the mesh black or whatever, it hides looking at your raditor and horn nicely, and does something with that stupid license plate inset piece

btw the picture is a little older, i covered up the fog light bolts with perfectly cut mesh too. i bought the car with only one cover! crappy dealerships for you....

got the mesh at home depot for $7.30 for 5 sheets

To me, I might as well not have done it if I did those colors. I kind of got the idea from the interior "sport" suede in Audis and other high end cars. What's cool is that I can change it to pretty much anything (or back).

My grill has so many chips in it I felt no remorse sawing into it. IMO it looks pretty mean with the foglights out but they will be back in after a project. I really just did it to stop myself from buying the S5 grill and painting it black.

Also, my horn and support are sprayed black where as most are discolored and stick out really bad. Something to think about if considering the mod. I don't plan on adding mesh though I may move the horn to give it better symmetry.

did you leave the top and bottom line of the grill on. looks like the top line still remains.. i love the blue. It does have that higher end look and the grill needs more closer shots

Very nice, I agree that a charcoal or even black suede would have matched better, but the blue looks cool. What'd you use to secure the pieces... adhesive spray?

sorry to take it over, i was just posting some helpful front end mod since he was talking about it. for the bottom, i unbolted the guard on the bottom just six bolts, put the mesh in there and zip tied it, the middle piece had to be cut that was a pain, took me like 2 hours to get perfect, as you can see i have a perfect line across, its 100% even, the grill was 4 peices, customly cut and lined up and glued by me, all in all its like a half day project, you have to keep lining it up to see where to cut and stuff, im sure measuring would have went faster but im lazy like that,

and for the lic. plate thing, i put it in the window, when they pull me over i show them two holes i drilled on the underside where no one can see anyway and tell them it fell out yesterday and show them the one bolt that was holding it up, they usually just tell me to put it back on, i live in a really chillaxed area. a big day for our cops is someone doing more than 20 over the speedlimit

and hes right seriously PM or get to me on aim

The top and bottom lines of the grill are still on. I will have to get some pics with the hood closed soon. Thanks for the compliment.

fastisnothing, I don't mind you posting pictures at all. The thread does turn into an off-topic chat room when everyone asks questions about multiple ideas though

It's mostly n00berts and it's not a serious thread anyway so no harm done.

It would take a pretty big wheel on a dremel. I used a small jigsaw with a fine blade. I know I should have gotten pics, I just remembered it when took the interior ones. Will update at some point.

Hacking up the grille? What weight savings!

I dig the suede, it looks good. I'm not sure what I want to do with my interior yet, I'm thinking just leave the tan leather though. I think it looks good on a DP0. If I had KH3, though.... might be a different matter.
