using KY Jelly on the maxima

For 2 days now i have been trying and trying to install these ******* reverse indiglo gauges without having the needles stick at all. everyone works fine except the RPM needle! i've tried double stick tape (scotch brand because i read that it was thinner that other ones) and super glue and it still sticks a little bit!

i'm about to lube up the gauges see if those **** needles stick then! anyone see a problem with this? if i put a little lube of some sort around the inner ring of the gauge? if not KY (hahaha) then what brand would be good? i want it to last forever cause i don't wanna take my dash apart again.

if anyone has any other suggestions about how to make the gauges not stick, i'm all ears!

I was having similar problems, and was about to toss the gauges in the trash. i ended up taking a small razor and scraping at the inner ring area of the gauges. also, no tape was working for me - with the tape on, the needles wouldn't budge at all. i ended up drilling holes in the gauges and securing them over the existing gauges with the stock screws. after i did this, the tach needle was still getting stuck around 3,000. that's when i had to scrape away at the inner part. this did not harm the gauges in any way.

I would try the above method too. What kinda gauges are they? I ordered some when I first got the Max and luckily didnt have these problems, maybe two months later helped a friend put some in his Max and they stuck like a bi**h. I shaved the ring down a bit and it was cool but he bought these cheap ebay gauges for like 15 bucks and while they fit snug, that damn ring looked almost like it was a defect, like a hangnail while the cutting process was going on.

Your problem was that you used reverse indiglos as opposed to OEM SE gauge faces. You may just be fuxored.

Well thats true. I was a rook then and didnt know how sweet the SE gauges are. When I finally seen a video of a car with them,I posted it in here all excited trying to find out if anyone knew what they were.....yea,they were obviously SE gauges though. It was a good laugh.

Lol...well to some yes. I dunno, some people like them others dont. Some people like Lip Kits,to me they make the front of our cars look like lawn mowers, but I wouldnt call them gay.
PS. Clever wordplay.

I second the SE gauge guy, but did you ever try the drilling holes? My friend ended up doing that to some gauges he ebay'd and it worked great.
