Looking for input on 5.5 gen muffler on 4th gen

My muffler on my 4th gen is starting to rust, so I'm debating buying a 5.5 gen muffler. I will just take it to a muffler shop to get it installed. I have a few questions.

What fitment / clearance issues are there?

Does the bumper need to be cut for the twin outlets?

Does the muffler sound any different than the stock 4th gen muffler?

Any pics of a 5.5 gen muffler on a 4th gen are greatly appreciated.

Bumper cutout. I forget if the mounting flange requires modofication...

Yes. Well, cut or heated and re-molded.

Not really. If you are stock other than the 5.5 muffler, you won't hear any difference. If things are much more free-flowing upstrea, you might hear a slight difference, but most of that will be from other components, not from this muffler.

Pretty sure your mounting flange has to be modified.

What part of the exhaust is the flange?

Also, would it be a bad idea to buy a muffler that was cut without the flange connection to the b-pipe?

The flange is the flat part that allows it to blot to the previous or next section of the exhaust.

Since it would have to be modified to fit a 4th gen anyway, buying a muffler w/o it is not a big deal.

I am assuming the flange something the muffler shop would have / fabricate themselves?

No, they'll just weld the 2 parts together.
