Question on struts

I am just about ready to order some struts and springs. I'm going to go down 2 inches, and i was wondering two things. One, are any struts going to have a warranty with a 2inch drop? Also, say i get the hp's, how long can i expect for these to last on a 2inch drop? Don't want to spend an arm and a leg on struts if they will go out fairly quick.

You will need to spend and arm and a leg to get struts that handle a 2 inch drop. If you think the HP are expensive...I suggest to keep saving more money then. Also HP's are only designed to take a midly drop if any. You will need Illuminas so start saving.

I was using them as an example, there is no need in me spending 400-500 dollars on some struts that will die on me within a couple years or so. Just courious how long these aftermarket struts can handle that amount of drop

Yeah, but the GR2's are only under warranty with a 1.5" drop or less.

I got a set of Eiback pro-kit about 1.5 inch drop with Tokico Illuminas. I have had them for about 2 years now and its working fine street/city driving.
Not too bumpy at all. (with the illuminas u can always adjust also)

So it's safe to say that if i want my struts to last, i need to only drop it 1.5?

If you're going for a 2" drop or more you should be getting coilovers. Not struts and springs. HP's with a 2" drop will not last long. This is all covered in the suspension stickies.

My issue with coilovers is the amount people are having to rebuild the dampers. Even JiC suggests to rebuild them every 1.5-2 years, I no longer have that kind of time or patience.

It is not only the drop- it is also the spring rate that blows struts.

I got the 1.5" drop cause I know the roads around here wouldnt go well with a 2" drop it would be way too bumpy and uncomfortable. So I guess it also depends on where u will be driving it.

You would hardly notice the differece between a 1.5" or 2" drop side by side. My vote goes to saving yourself a lot more time for driving rather than fixing...
