Is this all in my head??????

Hey guys, well i got my exhaust done a few days ago and the shop guy convinced me that my car should run 2.25 inch exhaust piping (i had 2.5inch piping before). I think this is in my head but i could swear i feel a loss of power, so is this in my head????? or should i spend some more money and convert back to 2.5 inch piping???????

I have a CE y pipe, and a CE high flow cat.

I would ask someone local whom has ridden in your car prior. My car gained power when I added a resonator. Before that, I just had a WS Ypipe, high flow cat and 2.25" w/o resonator and stock muffler. It honestly had NO bottom end and mid-top range was the same as before the work was done (and I even had the stock Bpipe in with that wonderful restrictive 'kink' behind the resonator)). I added my resonator a week later and I noticed a huge difference all throughout the power range. Maybe my car is just weird though.

Get a before and after dyno. It's a negligible difference anyhow.

its probably all in your head....

or maybe not.. here is why.

you got convinced to get a 2.25 " exhaust which may turn out to be smaller than that. most 2.5" catbacks we buy say they are 2.5" but if you measure they are actually a little smaller than that.

but not much power is gained from a cat back anyway, so I still stick with it being mostly in your head.

ok even a 2.25 inch exhaust has better flow than the sotck.

the stock gets extremely tight at parts of the exhaust..

2.25 is to small for a DOHC v6 so yea you probably are having to much backpressure with your system 2.5 is I.D piping is what you need for your motor and a 2.5 should hand a couple of mods to very well however if you get cams or ported heads or forced induction go for the 3 inch
