very loud clunking from rear passenger wheel???
very loud clunking from rear passenger wheel???
i have this VERY loud clunking from my rear passenger side wheel. SO i took it to local firestone for there FREE inspection and they told me that my rear caliper guidpins need to be replaced in order to fix. He wanted $600 to replace both rear calipers with pads....WTF all for a lose pin?
can you guys advise if i can just replace the pin, or should I replace the whole caliper?
also any good places to buy the caliper along with the wagner TQ pads.
thanks

I guess the caliper isn't held in place well and is being moved with the rotor. I'd probably remove the pins and visibly inspect them... if it looks like it's a defect with the pins, just replace those if it's cheap. If they look fine, it's probably something with the caliper. Either way, brakes are easy to work on, do it yourself for the price of calipers, maybe a couple hundred?
Autozne has the calipers for 162 each, and the core is 62 so when you bring your old ones back you're really only paying 100. Pads from nissan are around 60 with shims for the back. Just my opinion, but maybe you should see if anyone near you can elp with the install, or if someone can recommend you a good mechanic. That price seems pretty steep to me.
