MAxus is in a month, and my car is bone stock under the hood.. and i wanan do something under the hood and lately my valve cover gaskets are leaking so wanan go ahead and polish them.

Any org members that polishd there covers can u kinda tell me what u went through??

get polish, clean, polish. What are you looking for?

 

depending how bad it is and how long u want to take you could sand it using 400 grit wet sand paper and then working up until 2000 then throwing some polish on it

 

like any specific polish?

oh you mean that cover. Most people paint them to make them look nicer. I think that's best.

 

There's a good write-up that Anthony made, I can't find it though.

I'd just cleaned it up good, and started to go at it with Mothers Aluminum and Mag Polish, stuff works wonders.

Please dont paint your valve cover.

Only bother with doing the front. I got 3M wet dry sand paper, a bit of soapy water and just go to down. Start with 400 and work all the way up. Once you get to 2000, then take some mother mag aluminum polish. I used that with a dremel and it came out really good.

or do it the quick way, go over it with a wire brush wheel tht attaches to your drill. go over it clean it off in hot soapy water let it dry and use a mothers power ball and mothers billet alum. polish with it. after you get your desired shine spray it with clear cloat to keep it that way
