Place Racing concerns(water)

I just installed the cai and it started to rain. Now, I am sort of freaked out to drive it in the rain. What if I hit an unexpected puddle and splashhh, the intake sucks the water in? I guess the only safe bet is to install a bypass valve of some sort.
I don't know. Its just not worth the headache of worrying if about all this just for a CAI. Besides I feel that the intake sort of took away power. the intial torque feels good but falls completely flat at the midrange and upperend. Might just convert to a short ram and run through as many puddles worry free.

Just don't go though any 2 foot deep puddles and youll be fine...

IIRC you did have the mid pipe installed. Remove that and put the stock resonator back on....

so WhiteA32, Water splashing occasionlly on the filter itself is normal, because its not substantial enough to be sucked into the tubing and damage the engine?

and Cdg2125, I guess the it power gains won't be fully utilized until an exhuast system is put in? I am currently running a stock cat, but will be putting a catback on this week...if that helps.

Maybe a handful of threads from people who hydrolocked. Sounds like it doesn't happen very often. Drive smart, should be ok.

Had cai on my altima (same setup as maxima), went through some deep water at speed limit. Water was at least 50ft long... No problems. Car was on Eibachs. It's good to have good all-season tires. I'd actually be more scared to go slow through that water.

ThurzNite, I am concerned now, considering that my car is 4x4 stock height. I will be really freaked when I lower my car making the clearance and filter closer to the ground and water.

IIRC the filter has to be completely submerged to hydro lock the engine...
