one guy was using it on his VQ30DE powered 240sx - I think it was Fred Allen Burge if I recall correctly.

Did some research...sounds like a cool DIY project for someone well informed on fuel injection. Way over 99% of this board's heads, though (including myself).

i converted my 87 audi 200 to fuel injection and use megasquirt 2.0 to control it. its not for the simple-minded, i can tell you that much. it was pretty involved, moreso converting it to fuel injection. the megasquirt part was a lot of reading and thinking things out. personally, i wouldn't run ms on a 4th gen. i would go with a e-manage.

a fine thing that megasquirt.

never heard of anyone using it on a VQ, but if it will work on a VQ powered 240, it should work on a VQ powered Maxima.

a lot of features, but it will take a lot of time to get it start the car, but it has a nice auto tune feature, along with a lot more.

N/a or booster would benifit greatly from a stand alone.

weather its worth it or not for an n/a vs piggy back is another story.

The gains you would achieve do not outweigh the potential cost (of replacement) you may incur. You could easily save your money, and put it towards more rewarding and beneficial things (brakes, suspnsion, tires)....

I love how their website acknowledges that most people have no idea what it is, and starts off with a FAQ

Im really interested in seeing how this is going to turn out. I have been thinking of using megasquirt on my supra. It seems if you have the time the new 2.2 board is getting more and more user friendly with the software. I think the hardest part would be setting all your base maps. On the bright side the more people that do this route the easier it becomes for feature goers.

The more I read the website, the more I like the idea. Plus, it's transferable to my next car (just gotta start over on the mapping). I'm guessing this will make a huge difference in part-throttle applications.

Yes with a MS setup you can run almost any combination of different manufactures sensors and such. A great advantage especially for those with turbo systems. And the cost is so right. I was thinking if a person could make a bridged harness from the stock wiring harness to a MS cable You might not have to chop your factory harness to install your MS. This would be a nice way to just unplug the MS when you get your next car and just plug back in the factory ecu bringing it back to stock tune.

That sounds like a great plan. But where do I find the male counterpart to the harness?

Thats where I stand right now also I have seen splicing harnesses for when people do piggy backs and dont want to chop their harness, but I cant remember where that was. Maybe someone could chime in?
