I thought I read somewhere that the Maxima needs to have a muffler tip of 2.5inches. Is this right? Someone told me that it doesnt do any good to be bigger than this. Can someone please help me out with this. Thanks a lot

The tip shouldnt do anything i dont think. Thats just somthing you bolt on over the stock muffler tip that is for apperance only. It comes stock with whatever size it needs to be. Us ricers get em bigger for looks =)

RE: Exhaust Finisher...

The tip on a stock Maxima is 2.5". If you get a larger tip, it will make you sound like you have a bad a*s car, but will enhance NO performance...this is called rice . If you want a nice looking tip, back it up with a nice looking muffler. That's the way to go. You can get a nice universal muffler for $150 and that will have a large tip on there. Sure, you'll get a load roar sound, but you will have the performance to back it up.

Re: RAOR!

so the 2.5inch tip will be quiter, than the bigger ones I assume. What do some of you people have. What sounds good on a max. I want a deep sound not a ricey one like I hear on the Honda's around here. What size tip does the universal have? Or does it vary in size? Thanks

as long as the tip is larger then 2.5 inches, it should not do anything to the sound. rice was mentioned because with the bigger tip, it only makes it look like you can go faster. just dont get a tip smaller then the piping, less than 2.5 inches. then you would be losing power and it might sound weird. if you want different sounds, you need different muffler/piping combinations with any tip equal to or larger than 2.5 inches.

I will have my custom dual cat-back exhaust on tomorrow, but will not have my 3.5" tips on until next week. I will be running 2.5" tubing for both sides with a flowmaster camero muffler. I will let you know how the muffler helps out, then when I get the tips I'll let you know how they changed the sound. Got a week?
