Something's stuck in my AC vents..

From time to time when I turn my AC on it'll sound like there's some paper or something flapping against the AC fan blades near the passenger floor.. then the flapping stops and it sounds like something's stuck higher up near the vents, constricting AC airflow and making a really annoying loud sound..

I popped off the vents above my stereo and looked in there, but there was a screen in my way that I'd need to remove...and I couldn't see anything from there. What's the easiest way to open the system up and check it?

Thanks,
Zach

Being that there are screen in the duct works I doubt anything got in there, though strange things may happen. opening the it up is a pita and since something getting in there is doubtful IMO, I would think it has something to do with ur fan. I had my fan go bad and there was play in the shaft of the motor, this was giving me a noise similar to urs> good luck.

Thanks. I was thinking maybe a previous owner could've removed or damaged the screen, so I wanted to take it apart to investigate. I don't think it's the fan because I can hear the sound travel upward as if a piece of paper is breaking free and getting pushed farther back up. I only hear the flapping noise once in a while when I start up the AC until the sound moves upward, and I hear the constricted airflow sound all the time...sometimes it's worse than other times.

So does anybody know how to open this thing up? I'd like to just get a mirror in there with a light if possible to check for obstruction.

That sucks. You can probably take the seats out and retrieve them.

so not worth it. Bought a new locking key for 12 bucks. And the remote access for work thing was free (tax payers paid for it) BUT, on the up side, I found a way to get a new one without consulting my boss that i was an idiot and lost it.

take the center dash appart (radio vacinity) and inpect what u can see, maybe u have a separated duct or something. I was also thinking that maybe a bug got in there, I got one in my cluster and still don't know how that bugger got in through the gap between the plastic and trip adjuster **** lol. Do you run your a/c in vent mode? or recirc mode i dunno>g luk

theres nothing in your vents.

the blade on the fan near the cabin filter that is accessible by taking off your glovebox is rubbing against something.

I usually have my AC on a mix of fresh/inside air, and either way it makes a sound...

I'll take the glove apart this weekend and take the screen out and see what I can find.
