High Milage?
I have a few questions, but I just registered , and it wont let me start a thread. Sorry to highjack this one, but its along the same lines.
I just bought a 96 GLE with 216000 miles on the clock.($1800) It seems to run fine. I juiced up the A/C with a couple of cans of 134A, and now I'm cool.
Check engine light is on. I got codes for knock sensor and egr system. I have on other vehicles cleaned egr valves and that took care of it. Anyone done this with a Maxima? Where are the egr valve , and knock sensor? If these cant be cleaned where's the cheapest place for Maxima parts?
Any problem areas with this car I need to be looking at?
Many more questions to come once I can post my own threads. Thanks

DUDE! WTF!! When you first register, it tells you to read the stickies! Also, there is a thread titled "i am new here but have a question, I should bump that to the first page I suppose.........
But, I'll answer those for you this one time, feel privileged....
The VQ30DE is the engine in your car, known for not only an excellent and crazy powerband, but also BULLETPROOF reliability, I'm talking shove a 22re up your bum bum reliability!
Knock sensor....... Fill up with '93 and clear, if it comes back test resistance specs blah blah your sensor is more than likely melted or cracked in that case, again read the stickies, the answer to the egr question is in there, more than likely carbon in the metal line behind the upper intake, or in my case the really short rubber line going to the egrbptc was dry-rotted. Read the stickies, go to phatg20.net to download the fsm, and please don't threadjack again, go to the newbie thread for clarification on anything.

Sorry bout that mate. I guess I got a bit ahead of myself in asking questions before reading.
I will be putting in some high test this evening and see if that does the trick. This does seem to be quite a helpful site. Lots of detailed info readily available.A bit more uptight than what I am used to though. Thank you very much for the info.
