I know there have been a lot of posts about this lately, but here is my true track experience. Keep in mind that I have to race at 4900 feet. Tonight I raced with my car in D(rive) and ran a 16.973@83.68mph. Then I tried it shifting my tranny just before redline and ran a 16.593@85.60mph. If that doesnt explain what shifting for your self will do for you, nothing will. I torque braked at the same rpm both times.
