A/C Fully recharged but not cold enough

Well i finally put my ac back together, i put in the compressor a while back but one of my hoses had a hole in it. So i got a new hose and refilled the 134a. I used a can with a guage on it and its right where it should be as far as being filled properly. The ac blows out cool air, but not cold air. Which is fine, but i'd like to know if theres a way to make the air actually get cold. I live in FL and on a 100 degree day i'd like to freeze inside my car if i can.

Did you fully evac the system prior to filling it up with refrigerant? Judging by pressure isn't a very accurate way, ideally you'd want a full recover, evac and fill by weight.

I agree. Should have flushed the system first.

Well i had about a 2 inch hole in one of my pipes. So considering the systems pressurized i would assume that it was completely empty when i charged it yesterday, no? If not how do i go about flushing it?

Some would have lingered in the system, and the system was not in a vacuum when you introduced the refrigerant. With your system open like that for who really knows how long, you should've replaced the drier. Evac'ing a system removes air and moisture, and basically the longer a vac is pulled for, the colder the system will blow.

Another tech where I used to work accidentally left the evac pump on his truck for 8 hours, all day at work and after he got it charged back up he measured the air at close to 35 degrees. That would be cold enough for anyone...

But basically, yea. Take it somewhere for a recover, evac, and charge by weight.

You can not flush through the compressor or dryer, they must be disconnected first. I would also replace the dryer and expansion block before having an evac and charge.

It probally has air and non condensibles in the system creating higher than normal pressures. Like others have said at least throw a vaccumm pump on it and weigh in charge.
