Random Tech cat?

I heard of some installation problems with the RT cat. Something about the flange, stating there is a problem with the non fixed flanges and sealing problems? I would want to get an RT cat, but want to know all the problems with it b4 i purchase another mod.

IMHO for the $$ it costs, the flanges suck->
The reason they use those floating flange style is because it makes them much flexible for fitment. Unfortunately, this type of flange does not seal well as when you tighten each side it makes it "bow" in the middle. This allows the possibilty of leaks to happen in the middle. Now some will say "mine don't leak" and "I've never had any problems". And yes, the flanges will work okay but again for the $$, they should come w/ fixed, flat-faced flanges that are welded on. I would bet(but not w/ Chris lol)many guys here have had the RT cat installed and don't even know that the noise they hear is from a leaky flange. I have one coupled to a Cattman Y, and some of the noise that is usually blamed on the Y, could be coming from a poor seal from the Y-RT connection. My exhaust guy warned me about these types of flanges and now mine leak. One other guy here(Matt P??) has gone one step further to have new fixed flanges welded on by a shop. IMHO for $$, I would just go out and buy a universal cat(ie.. catco or car sound etc..) in the desired in/out pipe diameter and have a QUALITY exhuast shop custom fit the flanges. It's probably cheaper to do that anyway. I believe as long as the cat is a monolythic block type(as RT is), I think your good to go. Now I give props to Justin G. for being the original developer of RT cats for Maximas. No disrespect to ya bro.
Funny thing is, some will post a reply that will completly disregard my reply and will probably 100% contradict what I've just said. So my advice is, take the information and formulate your own opinion.
