The cool little things....
I don't know about any of you, but there are just certain things about my Maxima that make me smile. You probably think I'm a freak or something, but I think deep down you all know what I'm talking about...the little things. I'd have to say one of my favorite little things about my car is the little "blink, blink" i get when i hit the lock button on the remote. It's as if the car is talking to me...it's pretty satisfying. I know you all have things about your car you love, and I'd love to hear them. Post away!
true
yeah i love the way the max blinks twice when you hit the lock button...i think i hit the button about 10 times when im walking away from my car just to see it blink over and over..i usually see how far i can get and still get it to work...lots or fun with the max...

RE: The Little Things...
I love the secure sound of the trunk ejecting... and don't we all love the simple but sporty looks of the dash... but most useful, lets not forget the fact that we own one of the only cars that have corner lights, not to mention when they can be rewired they are brighter than desk lamps. Like you said, its all in the little things. Just trying to help

Re: RE: The Little Things...
i always click it a few times as well just to see it flash, it started when i got the clear corners, plus the range on these is muh better than my dads mbz and moms explorer
you should put this in your sig since you always say that

Hey Vyrus...i was wondering...i just ordered some hiper white 1157 bulbs for my corners...when i install those, are they still going to be dull if i don't do the re-wire?
I thought of a new little thing I love...the blinking red dash light. helps me sleep at night
...scares away all the evil things.......

RE: Corner Lights...
Yes, the your corner lights will be dull no matter what bulb you put in it. It may not be that yellow-ish tint, but it will be very dull - as they are supposed to be. Think of it this way: They will have an output of 8 watts - the rewired will be 27 watts - that's over three times the power and brightness. Rewiring is VERY easy, and you should be able to get the directions from www.MaximaDriver.com . One trick I remembered is that when you have fully unscrewed it, there is a clamp holding it onto the headlight. Stick a flat head in between it and twist the screw driver (you will see what I mean when you get there). If you have any problems feel free to eMail or private message me. Just trying to help

I like to see my car when someone else is driving it and I'm not in it. I get to see different angles and the rear which I never see. Or when you are the rear passenger in your own car and realize how comfortable it is.

Re: what i love
I like the sound of the door closing when I get in.
And I love when I've backed into a parking spot, and as I'm walking back to the car I see someone else walk by and take a loooong look. My Max looks like any other Max (except for clears corners and no rear amber), but there really aren't that many in the Pittsburgh area. It's nothing like DC or Philly, where you can't go a block without seeing one parked on the curb and then have one next to you at the light.

Maybe I'm just Evil...
but I love it when there are little kids around, and while they can't see me I turn the car on while walking to it. I don't even look at the car, and the kids get freaked out, look in the window, ask their mom what happened... HAHA
things to appreciate on the Max
I'm glad you brought this up. I don't think about it very often, but there certainly are qualities about it I absolutely love.
Windows: Yep, having them go down remotely is beautiful--and for those who don't have this option, you get interesting looks from them. Friends often comment "Hey, what a great feature! Wish I had that..." As for remote up, I'd like to have that too, but it's not a pressing need. Something for the extravagant day sometime in the future.
Blink, blink: I LOVE the fact that you don't get "bleep, bleep!" with our alarm system. That's just so damned annoying. The silent "blink, blink" is perfect. Every once in a while, I test how far away I can activate it. Now 7 years with the same battery, I still have excellent range.
Thunk!: The hood closes SO NICELY. Clean, solid, sealed. Same with the doors. None of that tinny cheap "tink" you hear in a lot of other Japanese cars (unfortunately my Miata has a bit of that "tink"). It sounds even better when you're inside!
Start-up: Seems Toyotas and Hondas have a different start-up sound. I definitely prefer the Nissan starter motor. Don't know what it is exactly. Just a nice crisp start-up.
Idle: My idle is a little noisy, semi-clattering. It's been this way since new. I've seen other '95s having the same effect. In '97 and later years the idle seems more quiet, which I prefer. It doesn't have any influence on performance, reliability, or fuel economy, as far as I can see. Just a side effect.
Acceleration: The subtle roar of a stock Maxima engine is so nice! Down shifting into 3rd at 60 and launching up to 80... ah. I love that sound. Don't hear it too often, because I prefer to baby the Max, so it's definitely sweet to catch the sound once in a while.
Looks: When I first saw the '97 grille, I frowned. I felt like it made the 95/96 models look less aggressive. But now, over time, I've come to appreciate the '95 look. Although I'd prefer to have the rear bumper cover from the 97/99 years, with that cool lip at the bottom, I do appreciate the rear image of the '95 (especially with red/clear tails). But it needs a spoiler--otherwise that "hoof" effect stands out too much.
By the way, that's one goof I think Nissan made. Towards the end of the 3rd gen model, the rear turn signal lights were muted behind white/gray lenses. Why the heck did they go back to that stodgy amber in '95?? At least the 5th gen SE tails look sweet.

well damn people...I didn't expect this many people to respond to this post. Guess I hit a nerve with the little pleasures of owning a Max. That's what it's all about, isn't it? I work at a moving company, and one little cool thing is when I can look at the entire parking lot of cars that employees own and think to myself, "Wow, there's not one single car in this lot I'd rather have than mine." That's a great thought to have.
keep postin!
keep postin!
Well, I just shaved the back of my car, and I went to the grocery store today and parked next to a stock max that some soccer mom owned, and I was reminded what I love about my car. I just like feeling different...not different than all of you, but different from the general population of Maxima owners.
